Lucrecia Morgan took my call, spoke clearly, helped me quickly and efficiently, and ensured that the whole process of changing my insurance policy could be concluded successfully.
I responded online to an adverti*****t for a vehicle via cars.co.za on Friday evening. On Saturday morning I phoned to enquire and was told I could come and see the vehicle. The saleswoman was friendly, but not knowledgeable. The senior salesman was unfriendly and rude. When going for a test drive, he first wanted to keep my driver's license at the dealership, but I protested that there were traffic police close by. The lady took me for the test drive, but basically suggested I be satisfied with driving around the block. Indicating that I would like to purchase the vehicle, I was given a credit application to fill in and left on my own. There were placards on the wall indicating that the admin fee for a cash transaction amounted to R2950. When I indicated that I wanted to get finance, I was told this would cost R10000, and then informed I could not apply with my own bank personally since they did not have a dealer code with the banks. Instead they channelled financed car deals via a dealership in George, Western Cape. This raised my suspicion and I subsequently checked both the vehicle details with the manufacturer and the dealership in George, both of which were reassuring. However, after sending all the required documentation om Monday morning I only received confirmation that my application was approved after enquiring again on Wednesday afternoon. I was then sent an e-mail (and not the bank's link or form to confirm the details of the transaction and the offer to purchase) which indicated a monthly instalment R1000 more than I calculated by means of two car web sites. I enquired on Wednesday, and it was explained to me on Thursday that I had to pay both the local dealer's R2500 admin fee and the agent dealer in George's R10000 admin fee, and that all sorts of add-ons have been included in the calculation. Still the instalment worked out about R500pm more expensive than my calculations, and I noticed that the selling price was now R10000 more than on the online adverti*****t or mentioned when viewing the vehicle on Saturday. When I then phoned to enquire on Friday morning, the same rude salesman answered the phone. Without greeting or indicating that I have successfully reached the dealership or saying who was speaking on his side, he rudely demanded three times that I should say who I was, to which I said my name clearly every time. The third time I insisted on speaking to the saleswoman I had met on Saturday. When I asked about the sales price in the e-mail I was told that the advertised price was only for a cash deal and that the financed price was indeed R10000 more. This infuriated me and I duly retracted my offer to purchase. I short I received poor customer service, misleading information, and continually had to discover additional costs if I wanted to purchase the vehicle. I would strongly advise the public from doing business with this dealership.
On Easter Sunday 4 April my car broke down on the N1 on my way to church. My daughter was at hand to pick us up and take us to church, after which I phoned Discovery Insure. Mpho Phokanoka promptly answered, got my details and details about the breakdown. He the arranged a pickup truck to meet me on the side of the road where I had left my vehicle, and checked up several times to make sure that my vehicle was transported to the desired place and that I was safe. He was friendly and clearly explained the benefits I enjoy under my insurance policy. Thank you very much.
