I drive past a few Spar shops on the way home just to go to the Spar at Carlswald Shopping Centre in Midrand. I have been shopping there for quite a few years and it is generally a good experience however there is one negative point...they decide to do their cashier change of shift at 6pm each day...this is one of the the busiest times at this store and queues are often snaking into the aisles. For those of us that work and finish after 5pm...we get to the store between 5.30-6pm. When it is time to pay we get told that this cashier is closing as she has to go home...this is a service business and surely the customers peak shopping times must be taken into account when deciding on the change of shifts...adding insult to injury there are even a few cashier points that closed during this time. With the aisles full of people that are in the queues to pay...this makes normal shopping during this time an absolute nightmare.
I shop at Edgars very infrequently not of of necessity but more a sense of nostalgia especially at this time of the year...in the past a trip to an Edgars store was really a fantastic experience and one we all looked forward to. I did so for the first time this year on 27 October 2024 visiting the store at Mall At Africa which was great (staff brilliant) and managed to get some real bargains. Unfortuantely that glow was pretty much extinguished this morning when the statement of account was received...which is exactly 10 days after the purchase...IMPORTANT NOTE...it was done on the 6 month interest free option. To my surprise I see interest charged of R19.57 and fees of R28 which I later found out is newly implemented for managing the account. My first payment is only meant to happen at the end of November but already I am being charged interest ????...nothing overdue ??? The amount is immaterial but really points to an issue of principle. I pride myself on maintaining my accounts at the highest standard and have never had to pay interest before. I do not have to shop at Edgars...I can do so at any number of retailers. I have noticed in the recent past...Edgars seems to value the customers who buy and can't really afford it more than the ones who buy and diligently pay well over the minimum required amount. We all know what the downfall of the once mighty Edgars was...giving credit to those who could not afford it and sitting with bad debts that eventually choked the life out it. NostaIgia has now made way to common sense and I have now decided to settle the account in full and close my account which I have had since Edgars was Edgars and not owned by UNRETAILABILTY !!! This really is the last kicks of a dying horse for EDGARS. It really is a sad day !!!!
Great service from manager Daniel at the Game Mall of Africa Store. Out of stock on my first visit and rain check was taken. During the week I received an SMS saying that the stock had come in.When I visited the store 2 days later the stock was once again sold out. He handled my obvious frustration very well and went out of his way to accommodate me...eventually doing so at considerable loss to the store. He was determined to see a happy customer walk out the door and I was. A big thank you to Daniel for going the extra mile/s to ensure that a customer was fully satisfied. I will support this store as often as I can.
Visited the Checkers Hyperama Mall Of Africa 24/09/2017 with my 9 month baby girl...not a single trolley with a baby seat avialable Made some enquiries at Managers office and was told that all the baby seats were removed from the trolleys because they could be dangerous...how is a single parent or parent shopping alone push a baby stroller and trolley at the same time? It would seem that this Checkers Hyper store has very little regard and does not see fit to cater for single shoppers with babies. Suffice to say...I will not be shopping at this store again.
Absolutely disappointed in Woolworths Mall Of Africa...visited the store last Sunday with my 9 month baby girl...not a single trolley available with a fitted baby seat. At 9 months the child is not steady enough to be placed in the toddler section just behind the handle of the trolley but needs to be strapped into a seat. Obviously being alone I could not push a trolley and stroller at the same time. Sad to think the Woolworths at Mall of Africa does not cater for single parents or parents that sometimes have to shop alone by providing at least 5 trolleys with baby seats. Suffice to say...I will not be visiting that store again Yogan Naidoo
I had just found (incredibly frustrating) that if you have a problem with your geyser you have to go to the supplier yourself instead of the installer who actually installed the unit...strange but true
I had a problem with my geyser which is less than 6 months old last Thursday and called the Kwikot call centre that same evening.
I spoke to a lady called Nomvhula who was such a breathe of fresh air after all the frustrations from earlier that day..she was kind, caring and took our situation almost personally which I thought was really incredible.
On Friday morning I had 2 follow-up calls to say that a technician was assigned to the call and his details...also got a call from the technician himself giving a rough time as to his arrival...he was bang on time.
Technician was professional and efficient...problem sorted in quick time.
We are often so used to shoddy service in this country but this experience with Kwikot has renewed some of my lost faith...well done Kwikot
