ECSA is a bunch of utterly incompetent muppets. Calling them a professional body is an insult to the engineering profession. I have been trying to end my membership for over a year now, and despite the fact that I have left the country permanently, these imbeciles continue to send me invoices demanding payment for doing absolutely nothing. They follow in the proud South African Government tradition of extorting money just for existing, and have become so blatantly obsolete that if it were feasible I would recommend all of my South African colleagues register with an overseas body that actually serves the purpose of administrating our profession. ECSA I hope you read this and feel very very, very VERY ashamed of yourselves. By the way, don't expect them to ever pick up the phone, respond to emails or serve their purpose in any way shape or form, they exist solely for the purpose of ending out invoices for services not rendered.
I would give 0 starts if it were possible. This is a company that blatantly defrauds its customers. For your own sake, absolutely avoid getting any kind of contract with Vodacom. They will lie cheat and steal, and they will flaunt every kind of incompetence to avoid cancellations, even in our unfortunte case going so far as to reopen a 6 month old cancelled (and paid up) contract - without our knowledge or consent. The only clue being when they started deducting ever increasing monthly payments directly from our bank accounts. This is a company devoid of any kind of ethics or morals, hellbent on cheating as many people as possible - and there is no reason to assume that they won't target you next - because their operative assumpion seems to be that they can do whatever they want, and pretend to apologise afterwards (but not "pay back the money"... I wonder where we're heard that before?)
Why do I have to have a Makro card to buy something store? Why can't I just walk into a store and purchase something... Loyalty programs are fine, but a forced loyalty program... **** right off
****ing ****ing ****ing Terrible. Have been trying for a month to cancel a contract, their call centre agents all leave you on dial tone for 5 minutes and hang up. Their bot promises to send a cancellation email, but never does (**** you TOBI you piece of ****). They list the wrong number for cancellations (does not exist). They don;t get back to you, and instead spam you with marketing ****. **** you SO MUCH Vodacom, I'll never do business with you again.
I applied for an ADSL line to be installed on 2 July.

Confirmation was received in the form of an SMS for the scheduled date (1 week later), and was reconfirmed with multiple sms's from Telkom indicating the time and date in the following days. The appointment of course was during working hours, So I had to plan leave to ensure someone could be home when the technician came out.

On the scheduled day they failed to show up (bare in mind I had already taken leave specifically for this). After following up they moved the date to a week later (14 July). Again they did not bother finding out if it was a convenient time, and sent a bunch of sms's to confirm and reconfirm the appointment. And surprise, they didn't show up, again.

Today is the 20th July, and the 3rd time this has happened, which is incredibly unprofessional, considering they expect all of the effort to come from their customers, who must pay them for their \service".

Really pathetic.

"""
