Since downloading the Absa Banking App, there are 2 persistent issues: 1. Whenever I try to make an online purchase (Safari browser), the server drops the connection at the payment verification stage, no matter how quickly I verify the payment. The app indicates that the payment has been verified, but it never completes the transaction. This happens no matter what Apple machine I use, across different vendors. Sometimes the transaction is successful after multiple attempts. If I pay through Apple Pay or Paypal, the transaction is always successful, first time. I have tried many times to speak to a tech, to no avail. The tech solution that one rep offered up is that Chrome is the preferred browser. Surely this cannot be the correct solution? 2. The app is slow at log in, and throughout - the spinning red wheel..based on the above tech response, I haven't queried this. It is certainly nothing to do with the phone (unless the app only works properly on an Android operating system...)
On two recent occasions, I have had friendly, efficient and honest service. I'll be back.
Dear Alice van der Merwe

Since your prompt response to my complaint, in which some escalations were promised once the coverage Manager returned from holiday, I've heard zilch. I'd like to believe that the reason for this is that the Manager is very busy in the area. However, based on MTN's track record, this is probably not the case.

So whilst MTN might tick the \Company who responds""; 7 days a week.

To all probable film clients wanting to work at the Cape Town Film Studios - don't bother with MTN; Vodacom is king;and Cell C is quite good too."""
Cape Town Film Studios has been in operation for 6 years, and the base for the Black Sails TV series for the last 3 years - the 4th season commences now. Average crew size during production is 500+ people. MTN coverage has decreased since season 1, and despite numerous requests from the Landlord, and tenants, for better coverage, it continues to worsen. According to various MTN responses, nothing can be done any time soon. On the other hand, Vodacom arrived with large permanent on-site boosters mid-way through season 3, which dramatically improved voice and data coverage. As a result, all the tenant rental phones (50 - 60) are Vodacom. Two things are certain: 1) Current tenants will advise future tenants that the best voice and data network at the Cape Town Film Studios is Vodacom - by a country mile. 2) More than a few current tenants have either switched, or are switching, to Vodacom. MTN hasn't responded to my online complaint through their system, lodged a month ago - no surprise there because we have had the same lack of response to our coverage complaint at home in Observatory. Many thanks to Vodacom for spotting this coverage no-brainer at the film hub of the WC
