I booked a month ago to take my kids glamping but due to unforseen circumstances, I had to cancel, and this is where the problem came in.... Africamps T&C's state that if you cancel within a month or 30 days of booking, you lose 100% of your full booking fee. If you cancel 90 days before your arrival date, you forfeit 50% of your booking total, and if canceling 999 days before your arrival (not sure who plans holiday 3 years in advance) you forfeit 25% of your booking total. And in my case I'd paid a deposit of R1910 and thr balance of a further R1910, totalling R3820. The woman Andrea proclaimed to be so "accommodating" and "gratious" but would not budge. She was anything but that, however manyained a very passive agressive stance towards me which was highly patronising and unhelful. Hersolutuon was to suggest to opening the nights I booked up for resale and has allowed me to keep the booking, and if the resale is successful, to allow me to book at a future stage. But , because of the incredibly unfair cancellation cause and total disregard of the rights of consumers and the CPA, I really don't want to give them the benefit of having my business, even if they feel like they have "bent over backwards". Added to this their cancellation policy goes completely against clause17.4 of the consumer protection act which i sent them an exerpt from. I have reported Africanps to the CPA commission amd will share this complaint on TripAdvisoras well to outline my disappointment. The irony of course, is that if I had decided not to attendq my original booking, they would have taken my money anyway (100% of it so R2820) and rebooked the nights, thereby claiming the benefit of effectively 2 bookings over the same period for the same accommodation. I would seriously caution against using Africamps, unfortunately I cannot comment on their actual camp and facilities, but if my initial introduction to their business is anything to go by, I definitely won't be attending any one of their camps on principle, ever! What they fail to relaise is that businesses such as theirs are not bound to their clients via their own T&C's, otherwise we'd have mayhem and no gold standard to rely on. They are bound to adhere to the CPA and its rules and regulations, because this forms the gold standard of how consumers have a voice and are to be treated. So sad that they chose to take this route. I would have issued a 0 star rating but unfortunately this platform doesn't accommodate a 0% rating. Craig - Durban North
Ordered a pair of Oakley Holbrooks through SmartBuyGlasses on the 19th February 2016 and I am still waiting to receive them. The after sales service has honestly been some of the poorest I've come across, no accountability or responsibility taken. Speed to customer is paramount when providing an on-line buying solution. I am surprised that these guys are still in business... I would rather go without sunnies than buy from this shambolic organisation again.
