Europcar is so *********. I rented a BMW X1 recently. First the car was dirty upon collection. I used the vehicle for a day and dropped it off at Cape Town international airport. I inspected the car with my wife and got the returns agent to confirm if everything was in order, which he did. A little while later I received an email from Carmen indicating that there’s damage on the rear left door, which I knew a 100% was not there. The email also contained a claim form. I disputed this claim and asked for evidence of the damage. Carmen Benjamin and seven other people copied on the email did not respond to three of my emails requesting for evidence. My R18 700 deposit was not returned. I’m battling it out with their head office. Luckily for me, I have taken videos and pictures of the car. Upon coming here, I found several of such complaints. It would seem that this is a prevalent modus operandi. This level of ********* behaviour is ******** and disgusting.
I have noticed that lately when I make transactions, I somehow end up with a negative balance on my account which would result in penalties as a result of transactions that go through the account while the account does not have funds.

The issue is that one relies on the sms updates that are received when a transaction is made but it seems as if this sms' are no longer reliable. Transactions keep going through without the account updating OR card declining at a point of sale. Then FNB imposes a R50.00 penalty per transaction.

I took this up with FNB Private Banking and all they do is blame me for transacting while I do no have funds in the account. How can I make 14 purchases when I do not have funds in my account? I do not even have an overdraft facility yet the account keeps going into a negative.

FNB is arrogant in their response to the issue. I think I will be moving my Private Account to another bank soon. I can deal with anything but arrogance when I pay for a service.

my account my available and account balance update as expect
