My insurance took my car to Shelley’s Panelshop for minor repairs (replacement of front bumper and wheel realignment following bumping into a wall in a parking garage), and it was retuned to me with a completely misaligned bumper (the space between the bonnet and number visibly different on the left and right side, and unsightly gaps around the headlights), and a broken key. I noticed the key immediately and the manager offered to glue it, but I agreed that it would be better not to glue it because it would be impossible to open to change the batteries. I followed up with them when I realized how terribly the job had been done and they fetched the car to realign the bumper. It was returned to me with no noticeable difference to the terrible work done initially, and with the key completely glued closed so that now I am not even able to remove the manual key in an emergency. The key is an original BMW key that will be expensive to replace. As that was not enough, my car now tells me whenever I start it that it is -40 degrees C outside and there is a clicking noise that seems to be coming from the wheels when I drive. I recommend Shelley’s Panelshop even less than I am looking forward to the waste of my time that will now be invoked with finding someone competent to fix their work and identity the new problems that arise from what I should note again was a minor accident.
I purchased an AEG kettle with variable temperature settings, which malfunctioned during the warranty period. I logged a return and requested a replacement and was given a store credit with no further information. On enquiring, I was told that there was no stock and that I should use the credit to buy a different kettle. There being none suitably similar, I asked for a replacement when new stock of the (widely available) product arrived, only to be told (message conveyed from the buyer): \We are not able to determine if/when stock will become available of this item. The customer can keep an eye on the website for new ranges, deals and promotions\"... I would have thought that it was the buyer's job to know exactly this, and it seems completely reasonable to this person for me to wait for an indefinite period to find a replacement kettle.

Moral of the story: even with reputable brands, Takealot appears to make a complete mockery of any after sales service and product warranties that may have been forthcoming from the supplier. Don't by kitchenware from Takealot if you would like after sales service."
