This is how the this collections agent and FNB will refuse dialogue, see my email below to FNB and the banking ombudsman:
'I have been trying to get a settlement agreement with the collections company assigned by FNB to collect monies on my outstanding credit card, but the collections company refuses to give me the contact details of the person they discussed my case with at FNB, who seem to have turned down my settlement amount offer of R30,000 to settle the account.
The Collections Company & contact: Caroline Sithebe, Ramsurjoo & du Plessis,Tel: 086 111 3482 | Fax: 086 516 7119 Email: collections1@ramdup.co.za | www.ramdup.co.za
I have made an offer, after struggling for many years to pay only the high interest added on my account by bank and agents fees. The collections company is very unprofessional in handling my case (they seem to make the decisions on behalf of FNB, or are using some emotional feelings they have probably towards certain client). There is clearly a lack of transparency, making it very difficult to resolve this issue.
I am now forced to approach the bank directly, because according to Caroline, the FNB contact person cannot disclose their name and department, in order for me to further negotiate directly with them. According to Caroline, i probably need to be severely punished and further impoverished for not paying my account. As a consumer, i still have rights to communicate with my bank and be provided the platform to negotiate, unless FNB does not want to discuss with me and that will be discriminatory. Please contact me urgently. Thank you.'
