This is how the this collections agent and FNB will refuse dialogue, see my email below to FNB and the banking ombudsman: 'I have been trying to get a settlement agreement with the collections company assigned by FNB to collect monies on my outstanding credit card, but the collections company refuses to give me the contact details of the person they discussed my case with at FNB, who seem to have turned down my settlement amount offer of R30,000 to settle the account. The Collections Company & contact: Caroline Sithebe, Ramsurjoo & du Plessis,Tel: 086 111 3482 | Fax: 086 516 7119 Email: collections1@ramdup.co.za | www.ramdup.co.za I have made an offer, after struggling for many years to pay only the high interest added on my account by bank and agents fees. The collections company is very unprofessional in handling my case (they seem to make the decisions on behalf of FNB, or are using some emotional feelings they have probably towards certain client). There is clearly a lack of transparency, making it very difficult to resolve this issue. I am now forced to approach the bank directly, because according to Caroline, the FNB contact person cannot disclose their name and department, in order for me to further negotiate directly with them. According to Caroline, i probably need to be severely punished and further impoverished for not paying my account. As a consumer, i still have rights to communicate with my bank and be provided the platform to negotiate, unless FNB does not want to discuss with me and that will be discriminatory. Please contact me urgently. Thank you.'

I've been paying my husband's account & have requested a final balance more than a week ago. Irma called me & said they can't find 2 payments so I send through again the proof of payments. She promised to get back to me, a week later I mailed them asking again for final balance, as I wanted to see if I can afford to settle the account . Still no response, then I send another mail whereas Cobus called me & said they received the payments but they're trying to find out why it hasn't been allocated to the account. But he was going to call me back the same day, which he hasn't done. I've made a payment & send through proof again, saying that I'm making a final payment as I'm not getting a response from them, then Irma contacted me saying they can't accept it as final payment as they haven't allocated the 2 payments yet, but she'll get back to me still today - which I doubt. This more than a week after I have contacted them for a final balance. And in the mean time if there's any money still owing, they're getting the interest. How convenient for them! It seems like they're not there to help people but to drag things out so people can't get out of debt.

I have had a payment arrangement in place for months now and have been sticking to this arrangement (not skipping one payment). Since last month I have been bombarded by text messages and missed calls (including today) informing me that If i do not pay the account in 48 hours further steps will be taken. I have been dealing with Irma this whole time - when I asked her about these messages and calls she informed me that Amritha will get back to me regarding this, this was more than two weeks ago. Why am I receiving these messages and phone calls when I have a payment arrangement in place and have been sticking to it??? No one is getting back to me or replying to my mails. I have said it a million times. I work nights and am only contactable via email. Why all of a sudden is this arrangement not accepted, it has been fine for months now and I have it in writing that you agreed to this payment arrangement?????
