As a resident of Greenhills in the Randwest municipality, I am deeply frustrated by the recent water outages that began over Christmas and continue to this day. Despite consistently paying our rates, which are no less than R2300, we are left without water. Moreover, when infrastructure issues arise, such as damaged electricity poles, we are forced to pay out of our own pockets to fix them. Yet, if there’s even a small shortfall in payment, even as little as R10, the municipality immediately disconnects our services. This double standard is unacceptable, and we urgently demand that the municipality address these issues and ensure reliable and fair services for all residents. They don’t even attend to problems that we experience as residents. Few days ago we had to pay out of our pockets sort out to get electricity sorted in our place. 3 houses were affected. Their answer is they don’t have money yet we pay more than R2300 a month for rates.
