Review: Avoid Recon Engines and Wayne Meintjies at All Costs

If I could give zero stars, I would. Dealing with Wayne Meintjies, the CEO of Recon Engines in Chamdor, has been the most horrific, dishonest, and costly experience of my life. He is the biggest ***** and **** you will ever encounter.

Our nightmare began when the water pipe burst on our Jeep Grand Cherokee, and Wayne quoted us R83,000 to fix it. Fast forward three years, and not only do we no longer have a Jeep, but we’ve been ****** of everything. Wayne’s deceit and shady practices have left us devastated and out of pocket by over R200,000.

To make matters worse, Wayne set fire to his shop and *****ulently claimed engines, including ours, from Outsurance as stock items. This is not just incompetence—it’s outright theft. Over the past three years, we’ve endured an endless cycle of lies, empty promises, and demands for more money. Every interaction with Wayne added to the betrayal.

Do yourself a favor: stay as far away as possible from Recon Engines and Wayne Meintjies. He is a con artist of the highest order. He has no integrity, no accountability, and no shame. Don’t let him destroy your car and your finances like he did ours.
