Renault Northcliff appear to be very helpful right in the beginning but please do not be fooled. I am extremely disappointed with their service. I brought my car in to them to have my timing chain fitted. I was in quite a desperate situation because my previous mechanic completely stuffed this job up and he had damaged the engine. He said that the engine had been repaired but I wanted Renault Northcliff to do the fitment of the chain. The minute that my car was brought in and the state that it was brought in I think they though: "Great here is my chance to try get as much money out of her as possible". They fitted the timing chain but they then insisted that the engine is not running properly. In order to fix this it was going to cost upwards of R50K. I told them I could not afford this and when my fiance went to go and see the car HE noticed there was a water pipe leak. This was not due to Renault's damage but how did they miss this leak? I then had them fix the leak. Few days later I went to fetch my car, brought it home and smelled fuel. After popping the bonnet I saw a massive fuel leak at the one fuel line. Now, I know nothing about cars but I still spotted the leak. How did they miss this? I will tell you how- they were too busy trying to get me to do a complete overhaul of my engine that they missed TWO leaks. They allowed me to drive home with a fuel leak. This is extremely dangerous. Then, I asked them for the part to fix this leak. Do you know I am still waiting on this price 3 weeks late? I got tired of chasing after them that I sourced it elsewhere. Not only did they miss two leaks but they also agreed to write a report for me as to what work was done on the car and the condition the car was brought in as. I have not received this report despite numerous requests. They are extremely helpful until you bring your car in. Then it is about how can they milk you for the most money without actually focussing on just fixing the car. They make promises they cannot keep and they have extremely poor after service. The fact they allowed me to drive my car with the leak is disgusting and I am very lucky nothing happened to me. Either they need to focus on getting the actual job done and not try and focus on trying to get the most money out of someone or they need to hire more skilled mechanics who would spot a leak.
