I would not recommend anyone to utilize rent a store to store any belongings. Its only the 6th of the month and they now says they need a calender month to give notice. In order to remove my goods I must pay for the entire month of April which I shall not be using the unit and it would be empty. The company clearly rips customers off in this manner and thinks nothing of this. Manager Sinenhlanhla Ngwenya not will to hear any and does the company and managers do not have any compassion for the customers of rent a store only looking to make the company rich for an empty unit that will be standing.

Terrible people to deal with, they don’t tell you the truth about what you need to pay upfront, they don’t load and off load your furniture, you need to do it all on your own. and they give you very little time to do it all. Anything after 3 hours in total, you are charged R150 for every half hour over and above the initial charge. Don’t ever deal with this company. They are a very bad company.

Horrible service by Hazel and Chwayita the operations manager. We got at each other throats for a R260 payment we were not made aware of and begged to have management intervene just so we could access the store and we were told the office was unable to reach higher management. Ultimately after a heated exchange, call for backup security ( which backup apologised), operations manager Chwayita was called and she gave an order that our payment should not be processed so we don’t get access to the facility to come back on Monday. This was done without the care to hear either our side or to hear from the backup that was called. I have used the facility from 2016 but this Saturday left a bad taste in my mouth. To add salt to the wound, Chwayita followed with an email terminating the lease without bothering to hear what our side of the story is.

short version, i mistakenly thought Monday was the last day of the month, i arrived to collect 2 chairs that was in there. told we have to pay the full month plus a penalty. again it was long weekend and simple mistake which no effort to maybe give a smaller amount to pay or anything, was just told to pay it. after sales definitely needs a lot of work and their website says "the name you'll recommend in self storage" oh the best part is this is for my grandfather and i did express this to them, he is 79 years old and they want o hit him with this penalty? nice. would no recommend this place at all

Terrible service from the head office!! A few days ago we called rent a store honeydew and informed them we want to cancel the storage unit as we are moving to a new home and won't need the storage any longer. All Was well and they even offered us a truck to help us move our good from storage to the new home. They charged us R700 rand which we had no issue with... Today we called just to confirm that all is in order. To our surprise they said they cannot remember the Arrangement that was made, and also now suddenly the truck they were going to use has mysteriously gone out of service and they don't know how long it will take to fix... And now they only have a big Truck to help us at double the cost??.. This is unacceptable. Also we would not have known anything of these changes had we not called. Rent a store must come up with a solution to assist us as this is their issue not ours. I would like a. Manager to call us and help us out. You can't just sweep this under the rug and tell us you suddenly done recall the agreement.
