Reading the reviews it looks like customers either love or hate the company. 5 star or 1 star. Well, I add my 5 stars to my experience. iI wear orthopedic shoes which had an eye hole missing (crudely removed by an unskilled "shoemaker" a month ago. Being not a run-of-the-mill problem I did explain in an email before and made an appointment. Well, Rocksole owner and staff helped immediately on arrival and did not only do the job at hand but saw the stitching had broken too at the same shoe. They repaired both stitching and eye hole as well as polished my shoes, helped me to put them on (I am walking disabled) and were all concerned to offer help to get back to my car. The whole affair had cost me R75 and they wouldn't even accept a tip for good work and service. I get the feeling it is the missing respect for the profession and the person that causes most of the negative reviews. So, the least I could do is write an honest review.

I always have excellent service at Rocksole. I think I go to the one next to this Raj character, go to No. 61 Wale Street , a guy called Roshan Jaga. Raj is the yellow building which is no. 65 Wale street. That Raj guy is expensive and lacks customer relations. Try Roshan next time. ratings for him.

ABSOLUTELY DISGUSTING! I misplaced my ticket and decided to make an innocent joke with the owner RAJ with the items i had. Only to have him tell me to and i quote , "**** OFF, dont you ****ING COME HERE WITHOUT A TICKET AND EXPECT TO GET YOUR STUFF, AM I A JOKE TO YOU?" Mind you this was in a shop full on customers. I responded how he could speak to his customers like this only to have him respond that he doesn't care. Apart from leaving extremely embarrassed the workmanship itself on shoe restoration is pathetic and poor to say the least. I had originally come back for my wallet which was supposed to be sorted the week before. So not only was the work overpriced, poorly done and late; but i was sworn to at face in front a room full of strangers. I am not sure how any business is allowed to operate as such. I strongly urge anyone to steer clear from this place and old man Raj as well

After reading the reviews it was with trepidation that I approached Rocksole to repair my motorcycle boots. I am glad I did, because there was nothing to complain about - as a matter of fact, I was received cordially and helpfully by Raj when I placed the order, and similarly by an older gentleman when I collected them. The job itself was stunningly done.

<p>I had a pair of shoes which needed a new sole. I don't have much experience in this area. I asked people where I should go and I was told Rocksole, because they were the oldest and most well known establishment. So off I go with my shoes. I walk inside, walk up to the front desk area. I waited patiently while a few ladies who worked there looked at me - they seemed so sad and bored. They looked at me as if to say ' please get us out of here '. It was so so odd. Anyways eventually a lady came up to me and asked how she could help. I asked her to speak up a bit because she was basically mumbling at me. I told her what I needed and to see some options - she held up 2 kinds of soles and waited for my approval. I asked which one was better quality or what would suit the shoe best. She replied ' no you must decide, I'm not wearing them'. Ok. Weird. As this was happening the old guy who wears the leather waist coat, assuming the owner - started shouting at an elderly customer who was presented with a ridiculous bill apparently. I got a fright and turned to see what was going on. This man sat on his little chair and just became so rude to her - she asked how they arrived at that figure - which made him even more cross. I thought he was going to explode. He said ' fine, don't take the shoes, we'll just undo everything and throw them away, we don't care. ' He blabbered on for a bit while the lady stood there fumbling for her purse. My mouth dropped open - Then the person 'helping' me snapped at me and wanted an answer. I had to pay a deposit straight away and asked when they would be ready - she ordered me to 'read the sign!'. They stick a small piece of paper on the desk, with a date on it. Apparently it is a very sensitive topic to ask the turn around time for a repari..so DO NOT ASK THEM EVER ! I left feeling awful.. I should have gone back in and grabbed my shoes - I really regret giving them my business. I feel terrible for not saving the old lady.. Weeks later I returned to pick up my shoes, the little man was still there mending something on his lap - but barking out order to his staff. I will never go back to this place again. So horrible. WOW - why is that man so cross? What happened to him ? He needs to calm down.</p>

<p>I took a pair of cherished American made boots that Had a lot of sentimental value to Rocksole to have the steel toe removed! At the start I specifically asked if they can do the job as the boots are very valuable and dear to me! They assured me they can do the job for R800.00 but would take some time. ( A heavy price I was willing pay for a job well done) </p> <p> </p> <p>when I went to fetch the boots - the workmanship was aweful, the stitching was completely inconsistent and extremely untidy, also they did not follow the original stitch holes, leaving visible holes in my boot upper, and the sole that they refitted for me was a bit like a carved piece of wood. Over an above the dissapoint I got publicly yelled at by one of the owners in front of awaiting clients. The experience has certainly left a bitter taste in my mouth and I can't say I would back them to worked on cherished items.</p>

<p>I have 3 pairs of shoes that I cherish because they were inherited, which needed some love and restoring. </p> <p>I dropped them at Rocksole to get the leather nicely restored and the soles re-done, having been told that they restore aniques and do a good job. </p> <p>First they gave me quite a whopping quote (seemingly a thumbsuck?). But okay, I thought, if they do a good job it's worth it. Also, I was promised a discount upon fetching them, because of the large order!... So "OK, they are going to be nice again and that will be worth it!"</p> <p> </p> <p>Forward to two weeks later, when I go to pick the shoes up and have this customer experience: </p> <p>1) I get embarrassed in front of everyone, for asking for the discount that I was promised </p> <p>2) The leather on the most important pair looks the same, still shoddy and not any better & with only the soles replaced</p> <p>3) All of the shoes are scrouched together and have ugly leather creases on the front, which I'm not sure I will get out</p> <p>4) None of the shoes are any cleaner than when I dropped them off and the stiching that was a bit scruffy, was not trimmed with scissors to make it look nice</p> <p>5) The stiching was only done on one side of the leather on the one pair! </p> <p>6) They charged me over R1000 for this job! </p> <p> </p> <p>AND to top it all off they give me a receipt with just a number on it - no itemized billing to show how they got to that amount! When I inquired about the items and the tags with the costs on it, I get pushed around saying "What more do you want, this is what you need to claim VAT." And simply moved on to the next customer, ignoring me...</p> <p> </p> <p>WHAT A RIPOFF! I could have bought 2 brand new pairs of shoes for that cost and spared myself the wait and bad treatment!</p> <p> </p> <p>Needless to say: NEVER GOING BACK!</p>
