Expired product

I bought Amasi/inkomazi from Roots BaraMall on 23rd August 2020 only to realise that they have expired. The date is okay but it's a damage product.

Today I went to exchange them but I'm told that if I buy a product it's my responsibility to take care of them "aah" how is that possible if they selling expired products.
