I sent the following e-mail to SA Gutter: SA Gutter installed gutters at my home at plot 247 Grootvlei during November 2018. During July 2018, I noticed that one of my roof earth cables was severed. (See photo of above ground view). I inspected the cable and found that it had been cut and pulled up in the conduit. See the distance that mark from painting the conduit had been moved from the edge of the conduit as depicted in the photo of the below gutter view. I include the photo of the bonding of the cable to the roof in the photo of the gutter. The only time anyone worked with these cables since their installation, was during the gutter installation. We have serious electrical storms in the area where we live. As the absence of roof earthing under these weather conditions could result in damage to property, injury or loss of life, I therefore consider this a serious matter. Considering the health and safety aspects of this type o work, I strongly recommend that installation personnel be trained prior to undertaking such work. Kindly appoint a suitably qualified and competent electrician to repair the damage and check the integrity of the other cables as soon as possible. I received the response: MC De Beer ********** 10:13 (14 minutes ago) to danie, SA, me Morning Mr Blyth, This job was done in Dec 2017, almost 9 months ago. Should this have been reported to me by my team or yourselves in reasonable time after the installation, I would have made a plan to have this repaired. I however do not think it is fair to expect me to appoint an electrician 9 months after my team has left the site. My guys report cases like this so we can resolve them before leaving the site. I do not see why my guys would have cut this. I honestly believe getting an electrician in your area would be your best option. Regards. Marthinus. I cannot accept this response as: - I included photographic evidence of the gutter installation where the cable was drawn up. - The invoice stated a one year guarantee on workmanship. This does not encourage me to do business with SA Gutter again.
