As a South African patient living with severe refractory lupus and antiphospholipid syndrome, I am deeply distressed by the lack of access to modern biologic therapies available elsewhere in the world. While patients in the USA, UK and Europe increasingly have access to advanced lupus treatments such as Saphnelo (Anifrolumab), many African patients remain trapped in years of chronic corticosteroid treatment because these biologics are either unavailable, unaffordable, or extremely difficult to access through regulatory pathways. The result for many patients is devastating: severe steroid damage skin atrophy chronic inflammation disability preventable complications declining quality of life African lupus patients deserve the same opportunity to access modern medicine as patients in developed countries. No patient should suffer irreversible damage simply because of where they live. I urge pharmaceutical companies, regulators, healthcare systems and global lupus organizations to acknowledge the growing treatment inequality facing autoimmune patients across Africa and to work toward meaningful access pathways for severe refractory disease. This is not only a South African issue — it is a global health equity issue.

I wish to lodge a formal complaint with SAHPRA regarding a suspected falsified or substandard health product marketed as “GLP-1 (Six-in-One)”, which I purchased via a Facebook adverti*****t. Dear Commissioner, I hereby submit a formal complaint under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA) regarding misleading online advertising and the supply of defective and possibly unsafe goods by a seller advertising the product “GLP-1 (Six-in-One)” on Facebook. 1. Summary of Complaint The seller’s adverti*****t: Presented itself as a South African-based distributor, Promoted what appeared to be a legitimate health/weight-loss product, and Used identical imagery to numerous other Facebook ads now warning about **** products. Based on the above, I reasonably believed I was purchasing a genuine, locally distributed product. 2. Transaction Details Product: GLP-1 (Six-in-One) Quantity: 10 boxes Price Paid: R1,130 3. Grounds for Complaint The transaction violated several provisions of the CPA, including: a) Misrepresentation of supplier location The adverti*****t imp**** the supplier was South African, but the parcel was shipped from China. b) Goods not fit for purpose / ineffective I used the product daily for one month with no effect whatsoever, indicating the goods are defective. c) Potential safety risk The product may be falsified or unregulated, which exposes consumers to potential harm. d) Failure to disclose material information No legitimate manufacturer, distributor address, or South African registration details were provided. Remedies Requested I request that the NCC: Investigate the seller and the misleading Facebook adverti*****ts. Require the seller to issue a full refund of R1,130. Take enforcement action if the conduct breaches the CPA. Liaise with SAHPRA if the product constitutes a health risk. I am willing to provide further information as needed. PUBLIC WARNING: Warning to anyone seeing the GLP-1 (Six-in-One) ads on Facebook. I paid R1,130 for 10 boxes after believing it was a South African supplier. The parcel arrived from China, one month later. I used the product daily for a month with zero results. There are now multiple ads claiming to be the “real” supplier, which raises serious doubts about authenticity. My experience suggests this product is not what is being advertised. Please be cautious and verify before buying. I’ve reported this to SAHPRA, the NCC, and Facebook.

I got a call from some supposed doctor about how to apply for a section 21 when I tried to import a few health products. Let me tell you, these people don't know how to talk to a person. And for an apparent doctor that is even worse. God help this country.

Why has SAHPRA not licensed the importation of anti Shingles vaccines into SA ? The only vaccines currently available are only stocked by Travel Clinics at exorbitant prices which medical aids will not pay for . This omission is jeopardising the health of older individuals

Never get into a position where you have to deal with this organization. You will get extremely poor service and no communication whatsoever. Typical South African government institution where there is no service delivery and poor to no communication. Even senior people will ignore you rather than help you and try to resolve your queries. Institutions with this mentality are why SMEs in this country fail most of the time because they lack urgency and competence.

I recently interacted with SAPHRA as I am acquiring the relevant licenses to start trading. There were a few hiccups in the beginning with no clear direction, however, I was lucky to be assisted by Nthabi Moloi whom got the right people to contact me, thereafter I was provided directions by an alternate person to read through the numerous guidelines to extract the information I required. I did reach out to Nthabi again and she happily got someone else to reach out to me, that someone was Omphile Mokwena. I believe that Omphile also went above his cope and allowed me to call him to discuss my query. what an exceptional person, professional and clued up on SAPHRA processes. He listened to me and clarified the misinformation that I was provided to by other companies. He gave me clear direction as to how I am to achieve my objectives. My questions may have seemed silly but again this was due to the misinformation provided by Non-SAPHRA individuals. If anything, my interactions with both Nthabi and Omphile showed me that there are people who are willing to help and give their time to listen. This should be a valuable lesson for the rest of the SAPHRA employees on how interactions with individuals should be conducted, what helping a person really means. If mere redirection or just blankly giving people guidelines were all that was needed of the staff then this could have been effectively done with AI, and also saves SAPHRA on staff salaries. Omphile and Nthabi both showed that they are more than just automated assistance. Thank you Nthabi and Omphile for all your help and time.

Worst company to deal with. I have submitted all documents and paid, and after 5 weeks I have still not received a medical devices certificate. 5 WEEKS! You can email, phone, beg, threaten, burst a vein you will not get a proper response. Half the time the phones do not work, and you are lucky to get an email response let alone a proper one. But hell you have to pay 15K upfront and then another R3400 to get the certificate. Not sure what I am paying for but it is not for service! I am trying to explain to them that we are a functional TAX paying business, which means if I cannot sell, I have no TAX to pay. If I cannot trade, I can close my doors, this contributes to a bigger unemployment percentage. If I incur 6 weeks of customs storage fees on numerous parcels, our medical supplies pricing will increase. This gets carried over to the patient. So all in all SAHRA is contributing to economical disfunction. Everyone loses!

Good day I want to launch a complaint as my rights were violated. I quote "The Act defines 'processing' as collecting, receiving, recording, organizing, retrieving, or the use, distribution or sharing of any such information." I gave no rights for my personal details to be shared nor have I signed any agreements with "Newsroom Africa". In 2021 I received a call for an interview from Sakon (journalist) She represented " Newsroom Africa) for World Aids day. She never gave me any contract or documents to sign for my personal details to be broadcast on national TV. Sakona acknowledged that what Newsroom Africa did to expose my personal details was not part of the interview as they were no agreements signed to expose my personal details on TV. SAPRA made use of my personal details knowing that there were no agreements signed but my details come up on the news more than 5 times. I have been living with HIV for more the 21 years now. Never in my life was I stripped from my flesh like this, my whole details from my ID number, Phone number, My clinic card with my medical history, Full description of my medication Name, and surname. I don't know why SAPRA strip me off like this, let alone Newsroom Africa played it on national TV. I am a single mother with four boys. Whiles my details played on national TV a stranger called me out of nowhere to ask me how can I let my details play on TV see more evidence below. Whiles seeing my personal details on National TV (I received a call from the Journalist "sakona" requesting to share my details with the edited of Newsroom Africa. On the 26th of June, I received a call from the Edited at Newsroom Africa to apologize for exposing my personal details. I want to sue SPARA and Newsroom Africa for violating my rights to privacy as per my constitutional right, and for exposing my personal details to the world without my consent.
