My Salomon hiking shoes are ±20 months old and are falling apart. The laces are cutting through the eyelets and the heel supports inside the shoes are disintegrating. The store in Sandton advised that I can exchange them, but the deal was too good to be true. The shop assistant refused to take my old shoes, because they were not clean enough. Define clean for hiking shoes that have been used for 20+ months. She put me on the line with someone at head office, who supported her. Just, he added that my shoes are unhygienic. That is without seeing the shoes himself. I suppose, by extension, I am also unhygienic..... He refused to put me through to his CEO/manager. I am sick of being patronised by companies that hide behind a website. No phone number or e-mail address where a senior person can be contacted. Why are they scared to interact with their clients??

My partner purchased a pair of SALOMON shoes for which he paid R2 999. This is his third pair and he is very loyal to the brand. Unfortunately, this pair had a fault. He wore them twice and they hurt his instep. I returned them to the retail store where we purchased them - and they were very helpful. However, I was told that, due to the fact that we did not have these in a SALOMON box, they could not be returned to the SALOMON factory. We did have the receipt. Quick reminder - these shoes come with a one year guarantee. I have sent Salomon an email outlining the issue. I quickly received an automated message stating that they would get back to me - and I am still waiting two weeks later I thought that this was a premium brand - but obviously I was wrong!

On 27 May 2025 I purchased a pair of Salomon shoes for R3199.00 and paid by credit card. I received confirmation of my order as well as a tracking number on 28 May. On 5 June I emailed Salomon asking about my order and received a response that they would look into the matter urgently. On 09 June 2025 I received another email asking whether my order had been delivered to which I responded no. Seems like an expensive lesson. Whatever you do, think twice before ordering from Salomon online.

I bought a very expensive pair of pants, went on a hike 2 days after and it tore. For the price I paid the quality was not good, especially seeing the severity of the damage. I emailed them but they do not want to assist in returning the product. They do not care for their customers or are helpful in any way! I do not recommend

They do not handle their warranty with good faith. They use the two year warranty as a sales pitch, but do not hold to their end. Very disappointing given their premium price.

I purchased the Salomon Sense Ride 5 trail running shoes, expecting them to live up to their reputation as a versatile option for both ultras and shorter distances. However, within the first 5km, I developed painful blisters—something that shouldn’t happen with a shoe designed for long-distance running. As an experienced ultra runner, I know how to choose the right shoe size and wear proper socks to prevent blisters. This was not an issue of poor fit or sock choice—there’s something fundamentally wrong with the design or materials of this shoe. When I reached out to customer service to request an exchange, I received slow and unhelpful responses. It took weeks to hear back, and even then, I was repeatedly told to “read the terms and conditions” and that the issue must be my fit or socks. Attempts to contact them via phone and email were ignored. A shoe marketed for everyday and ultra-distance running should not cause discomfort so quickly. And when a customer has a legitimate issue, the brand should be willing to assist. Unfortunately, both the product and the after-sales service have been disappointing.
