Dear Shameel I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the poor service I received at the Nelson Mandela Square Vodacom shop. A day before the Black Friday deals ended, I visited the store to add a router contract with a 600GB business add-on to my existing account. The manager, Mishak, assisted me with the forms and took all necessary documents, assuring me the process would be easy. He stated he would WhatsApp me regarding data sharing, but I never received any communication. Upon returning to the store, I was informed that my documents were missing and was asked to resubmit everything, which I did. After further silence, I followed up only to be told the application was declined. We escalated the matter to head office, who obtained an order number from Mishak, yet the issue remains unresolved despite its urgency. I would appreciate a prompt investigation into this matter and a status update on my application.

The bathrooms don’t have water and all of them are closed but for some reason Sandton City is still open and it’s business as usual. How is this possible? I’ve gone around for the past 20 mins looking for a bathroom that’s open to use and none are available. This is wrong on so many levels and in so many ways. It’s a serious health hazard and I’m disappointed in the Sandton City Centre Management. Sandton should have water reserves because you must know it’s one of the busiest malls in South Africa. Why is there no one in management thinking of this? I’m more than disappointed

I am pretty disgusted with the gift vouchers I have received from Sandton City, Cresta Mall, Takealot and Woolworths. I personally will NEVER pay for gift vouchers for any of these companies again. I will rather give the recipient the cash so that he/she has a choice about when, how and where to spend it. The reasons: 1) The vouchers now have expiry dates. How is this legal? Surely, I am entitled to use / buy with the vouchers when I want to as they have been paid for? Is it my problem if these companies cannot properly account for this? As far as I am concerned this is theft! 2) In the past one could use Cresta or Sandton vouchers at either mall. Now the user gets penalised and has to pay for this "luxury". More theft. When you find what you want to buy is at Cresta, but not at Sandton and visa versa and the store you are using is at Sandton and Cresta you will get penalised any way. Why has this changed? I spent three hours at Sandton and the products I wanted to buy were not at Sandton, but Cresta had these products. I left and used my voucher to pay for my parking ticket. 3) If vouchers cannot be used at either mall and I cannot find what I want, am I not entitled to get the cash back?? Please advise as I think this is daylight ******* and not a gift voucher at all. 4) Finally, if you use this voucher and you do not use the entire amount, they cannot give you any evidence of the balance that you have left. I am sure this is yet another method of cheating customers, because at my age I cannot remember these details as proof of my balance is currently being withheld. This is a disgrace! Please advise whether I can come and collect my cash from the various vendors, because my gift vouchers are gifts to me, paid for but I cannot use all the money I have been gifted with all the "penalties" that have been imposed. I need to warn ALL PEOPLE WHO TRUST AND SHOP AT SANDTON CITY SHOPPING CENTRE. Yesterday I purchased a supposed German cell phone from Edgars Sandton City! A Spectra J2pro with a 50 mp camera. Trusting it was a German make I decided to try it. This thing would not connect to the Vodacom sim it came with with R29 airtime & 20 gigs data! I had to restart it! Then I tried to. connect it to Rain SA Wi-Fi. It ONLY SAVES IT BUT DOESN’T CONNECT! Then I called the no. on Spectra’s card from the box. Agent answered saying Mobicel good day! When I asked her if Spectra was Mobicel she sa said No, they were not linked! She offered me the correct no. For Spectra as people always call them, by “mistake” for Spectra…Yeah Right! I googled it…. As per Google: ‘Yes, the Spectra phone brand is connected to Mobicel. Mobicel, a South African smartphone company, recently launched Spectra as a new brand focused on delivering devices with high-end features and premium design.’

Mr Mohlala bought a Samsung A06 from Ackermans Sandton City on 1 April 2025. He has taken the phone back 3 times since then without them fixing the phone at all. He has a warranty of 12 months which only expires on 31 March 2026. He is extremely disappointed in their service.

Never been treated with such disrespect in a shopping mall before. I lost my parking ticket after spending less than an hour at Sandton City. I am there almost every break. I calmly explained to the intercom assistant that I had no way to pay immediately - my cards were across the road in my office, and my phone was dead. Instead of helping, she cut the call twice, refused to escalate the matter to a manager, and left me stuck at the boom gate with zero assistance. I’ve paid for lost tickets before. I’ve even seen them lift the gate during technical issues, so I know they have discretion - this staff member simply chose not to help. Either she was completely untrained or just not interested. I had to then walk to my offices, and upon returning when asking to speak to her manager, she casually said okay he is on the phone he is coming now. All this time of mine wasted whilst I was also on the clock. I had completely lost it at this point and told her off, and requested and paid for the lost ticket, after which she sarcastically said “have a nice day.” Unbelievable. Right after this, I signed up for Admyt because I never want to deal with Sandton’s parking staff again. At this point, I’m strongly reconsidering ever coming back to this mall. Shameful service for a place that markets itself as world-class. One day, that parking staff attendant might find herself in a situation where she needs a simple act of human kindness - just like I needed. I genuinely hope, for her sake, that someone shows her the compassion she chose not to extend to others. And if not, perhaps being stranded will help her understand how it feels to be left without support, frustrated, with a bitter taste left in her mouth.
