If you’re ever considering booking this place — DON’T! This property is falling apart. It looks like an absolute dump, if you can even call it that. The pictures online and what you arrive to in reality are worlds apart. The only reason we ended up here was because one of my husband's friends had his wedding at this venue. Upon arrival, we were absolutely shocked and horrified by the state of our room. Honestly, it felt like a ***** Pretoria CBD room — and frankly, I’m almost certain I would have been better off staying in one of those. The room was filthy. The drinking glasses looked like they had been handled and used by a hundred people — dirty, sticky and reeking. The place was falling apart. No warm blankets in the middle of winter, it was freezing cold, one paper thin pillow per person, and there was barely enough space to move. No exaggeration — my husband and I couldn’t even get ready for the wedding in the same room. I had to go to another family member’s room just to do my makeup and get dressed. The shower ceiling was covered in mould, there were cracks and water damage everywhere, dust thick on every surface, and even the room’s ceiling had mould. To top it off, there were empty perfume bottles and lip gloss from the previous guests still lying around — a clear indication that no one had even bothered to clean the room properly. And it wasn’t just our room. Other family members staying at the lodge experienced the same nightmare. Some had no water at all, others only cold water. Toilets that wouldn’t flush. The wooden bridge leading to their rooms was outright dangerous — no safety rails, planks cracking underfoot, some even flying up as we walked over them. At the wedding reception, the water issues continued. There was no water for ages. The toilets couldn’t flush, and no one could wash their hands. And don’t even get me started on the bathroom situation — the toilets are absurdly far from the reception area, down a steep, uneven embankment right next to the river. A serious hazard, especially at an event where people might be drinking and celebrating. The ladies' bathroom doors don’t close properly, the gaps between the door and the frame are so big you can literally see who’s sitting inside, and to make it worse — most of the doors don’t even lock. Do yourself a favour and look for alternative accommodation. This is not a place you want to find yourself at, especially not at the rate of R2600 for a weekend (2 people, 2 nights). Complete rip-off for an absolutely appalling experience. I am not leaving this with just a bad review, I have also reported them to the South African Tourism Board / Department of Tourism.

Thank you to Angie, Mom Sharon (chef) and Olivia for the warm welcome on my birthday weekend stay. I got a call call Angie on Friday morning, prior to checking in at 2pm to advise me to pack warm clothes as weather charged for the weekend and very what to bring ans not. Upon arrival the welcome was super and the food was super delicious (breakfast, lunch and dinner) the entire weekend stay. Even decided to stay one more day. I really had a superb birthday and will be bringing my family yo experience the 5star service.❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️

Went there for family weekend. Place is very run down. Gourmet burgers ordered @ R180/pp was cold and did not look anything like a good gourmet burger and no choice of chicken was served. Was very cold at night and there wasn't enough bedding. Next morning there was no hot water available in none of the units. We decided to ask for refund because experience was not good so far and do not want to spend our weekend like this. Never received a cent which totals R13k for the next night's stay and Dinner. Would not recommend this place to anyone.

We had the priveledge to have our daughters wedding weekend at Savannah Game and River resort in Parys recently! Family and friends from all over USA and SA stayed over from Thursday to Sunday! The venue was breathtaking. The game drives well organised and amazing with so many different animals to see! The wedding day was so easy to organise and everything went seamlessly. Comments like ‘best wedding ever’ was heard all around! Our American guests enjoyed a true rustic Bosveld wedding - this is the way to go!! This is not a ‘fake Bosveld themed wedding venue - this is the real deal! Helen, Ella and Bob and all the staff went out of their way to make our stay memorable! PS: the foooooooood - best burgers and pampoenkoekies ever!!!

23 February I booked an overnight stay in a rondawel at Savannah.
I heard about the place from a lady I got to know on Facebook.
Being the owner of a very popular group, I wanted to go see what this place is all about, seeing that it is not far from Johannesburg. We are looking for a lodge, everyone from the group can get to, for a get to know each other weekend.
Unfortunately, work prevented me from going. - after I paid a deposit.
I paid the deposit on the 26th of February, for Saturday the 7th of March.
On the 3rd of March I was told that I was working that weekend.
I immediately cancelled with Klaryn.
She informed me that they would only be able to pay back HALF of my deposit, as that is their policy.
I checked the forms I signed and nowhere on there was this policy mentioned.
Oh Klaryn said, it is on their website!
I wasnt even aware they had a website!
Long story short, I told her to pay back the deposit.
It is now the 24th of March and still not a sent paid back!
I want my money back!!
You are not allowed to keep it.
