When I signed the membership agreement, the salesperson who assisted me explicitly stated that if I gave 30 days’ notice to cancel, I would not be liable for the cancellation fee. I was informed that the cancellation fee only applies if no notice is given. I have provided the required notice, yet I am now being told that I must pay the cancellation fee. It appears that sales staff are misrepresenting information to secure sign-ups for commission, which is misleading and unacceptable.

Dear SBK Gym Management, I am writing to formally lodge a complaint regarding the unacceptable service I have experienced as a member of SBK Gym, Tembisa Mall. I signed a three-year contract with your gym, valid from February 2020 to February 2025. During this period, I stopped attending in May 2024 but continued to be charged. I acknowledge that I missed two months during the contract term. However, after the contract expired in February 2025, deductions continued for an additional eight months, despite the fact that I was no longer under contract and not using the gym facilities. In November 2025, when I decided to return to the gym, I was denied access, even though payments had been deducted from my account well beyond the contract period. This situation is deeply unfair and feels like I have been ******. The deductions made after the contract expired cannot be justified as covering the two months I missed while under contract, especially since I was not using the service at all during those eight months. I request immediate clarification and resolution of this matter. Specifically, I expect: A full refund of the unauthorized deductions made after the contract expired. Restoration of my access to the gym, should I choose to continue as a member. A formal explanation of why deductions continued without a valid contract. This experience has left me feeling exploited and disrespected as a customer. I urge you to address this issue promptly to avoid further escalation.

I’ve been debited every month even though the balance doesn’t change, and they refuse to assist or provide a proper cancellation process. The lack of transparency and accountability is unacceptable. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.

I had a terrible experience with SBK Gym. They sold me false promises about the membership and access, but the reality was completely different. I wouldn’t recommend this gym to anyone.

The service is so excellent. They have the most friendliest staff, who are very helpful. The one I'm signed up with is the branch in Alexandra.

I'M SO ANNOYED WITH SBK GYM, i HABEN'T BEEN A MEMEBER OR EVEN WENT THEIR ESTABLISHMENT SINCE MARCH 2020 JUST BEFORE COVID. i HAD A 2 YEAR CONTRACT WITH THEM SIGNED IN 2017. NO CONTACT FROM THEM HAS BEEN MADE SINCE I LAST CONTACTED THEM IN APRIL 2020 DURING LOCKDOWN ABOUT THE MOTNHLY FEES WE WERE PAYING WHILE THE GYM WAS CLOSED AND THAT WAS THE LAST COMMUNICATION BETWEEN MYSELF AND THE GYM AND MY ACCOUNT WAS UP TO DATE. FAST FORWARD 18/08/2025 I GET A CALL FROM A LAWYERS OFFICE TELLING ME THAT MY ACCOUNT WAS HANDED OVER AND NOW I OWE THEM R2600 WHICH I FIND AS NONSENSE AS I HAVE'NT BEEN TO THEIR GYM INB 5 YEARS AND THERE WAS NEVER ANY COMMUNICATION FROM THEM REGARDING AN OUTSTANDING FROM MY SIDE TILL NOW. THEY ARE UNPROFESSIONAL AND HONETLY I WANT NOTHING TO DO WITH THEM.

Yhoooo! SBK is*** they don’t offer what they promise to offer. When I was doing contract with them I told them I have a toddler they promised to look after the child because they say they is a caretaker at gym so I must not mind the child come the gym I was gyming with my child and after that they shouted me for not looking after my child while I was gym they I decided to leave the gym and not come back, it was a 12 months contract that started in June 2024… and I stop going to gym in November but I was still paying the gym because I didn’t cancel this April I went there to cancel the gym ask the money that I should pay to cancel the paid it signed and left three days down the line they called and said the cancellation failed I must pay R65 and 33 for cancellation to be done how because I paid R440 when I was there for cancellation why now and what for?… yoooo! Same day while I was still digesting that they called ask if I’m I interested in opening new membership from them telling me that my membership expired, do I want to renew. I went there to the office I find that I have three membership under my name and they left debit orders that makes R700 and something in my card .
