Our car was broken into and a few weeks ago. The battery and the radio was stolen. We contacted Smith’s auto electrical in Observatory for a quote. Mike came out, gave a quote. We excepted the quote, and he replaced the battery. The car made a funny krrrr noise when it started, but he asured us that he will fix it once the car is in his shop to replace the radio. We Finally made the appointment to replace the radio, just to find out his shop moved to brackenfell, it takes me 40min to drive out there to find that he haven’t even bought the radio yet. I had to wait 2 hours to replace a radio, and btw, he didn’t have the radio in stock (I made an appointment to replace the radio) He phoned twice in this time to ask questions about what radio we want. Firstly, he quoted R1995 for a radio. Hoe can you quote if you don’t know what product you are looking at. Secondly, the radio he installed isn’t one you can quickly take out when you park your car. We didn’t specify this specifically, but you would assume that common sense is used when you replace a stolen radio????? What, should we just leave it in to be stolen again. When we asked to return this radio for a different model, where the face can be removed, he said it want specified, so no we can’t. I don’t think this is great service at all, and I won’t recommend this business. A one man show, that took over an existing business with a great reputation. Not the sharpest tool in the shed if you ask me.... I will not recommend him to anyone. He also overcharged me with R300 rand, and claims it was a mistake. He didn’t fix the krrrr sound, because apparently many cars makes this noise, and it wasn’t included in the quote. Well, I’ve never driven a car that made such a noise before, and dont think it is normal. Steer clear of this business people. Common sense is not part of the quote.
