We took our Toyota Quantum van to Smiths Auto Electrical and had the most horrible experience we had ever received from a service provider. Our van had an auto electrical issue. The van was returned to us and only ran for a week which then had to be returned again. This happened 3 times over a course of 3 months and more than R20 K later and the van is still not fixed. Each time he advised us of a new problem and each come back we had to pay. Later on he advised us in contrast to his original diagnosis of an auto electrical fault now claiming the problem was mechanical. After 3 months and having lost our staff transport contract due to Smith's incompetence we took it to another auto-electrician who fixed the van within the same day and it hasnt had a problem since. What Smith's Auto Electric is doing is simply ******ion and conning good people out of their money just to make a quick buck.

Completely ************* company. Took car for rewiring and all they did was cover old wires with insullation tape. Technician broke radio cover during installation and instead of apologizing the owner came out to criticize the new radio's model. Did not even connect the tweeters. Broke my wipers motor. My altenator did not need repairs only a loose wire but chared full price for repair.

I have an old Volvo 2000 which has given me wiring problems for a long time, been to different mechanics, different auto electricians, most have given up. I reached out to Michael of Smiths auto electrical in Brackenfell purely through Gumtree and he offered his help. Michael went out of his way to find the problems, of which there were many, reaching out to colleagues in the industry and even online to the american volvo blogs for any information and advice. Michael was the only one to get my beloved Volvo up and running in perfect condition after all this time. I only take my volvo to him for services now and he gives pensioner and student discounts, saving me a lot of money as a pensioner. Well done Michael, I will never be able to thank you enough.

Our car was broken into and a few weeks ago. The battery and the radio was stolen. We contacted Smith’s auto electrical in Observatory for a quote. Mike came out, gave a quote. We excepted the quote, and he replaced the battery. The car made a funny krrrr noise when it started, but he asured us that he will fix it once the car is in his shop to replace the radio. We Finally made the appointment to replace the radio, just to find out his shop moved to brackenfell, it takes me 40min to drive out there to find that he haven’t even bought the radio yet. I had to wait 2 hours to replace a radio, and btw, he didn’t have the radio in stock (I made an appointment to replace the radio) He phoned twice in this time to ask questions about what radio we want. Firstly, he quoted R1995 for a radio. Hoe can you quote if you don’t know what product you are looking at. Secondly, the radio he installed isn’t one you can quickly take out when you park your car. We didn’t specify this specifically, but you would assume that common sense is used when you replace a stolen radio????? What, should we just leave it in to be stolen again. When we asked to return this radio for a different model, where the face can be removed, he said it want specified, so no we can’t. I don’t think this is great service at all, and I won’t recommend this business. A one man show, that took over an existing business with a great reputation. Not the sharpest tool in the shed if you ask me.... I will not recommend him to anyone. He also overcharged me with R300 rand, and claims it was a mistake. He didn’t fix the krrrr sound, because apparently many cars makes this noise, and it wasn’t included in the quote. Well, I’ve never driven a car that made such a noise before, and dont think it is normal. Steer clear of this business people. Common sense is not part of the quote.
