I have to say SMT is the WORST MOST UNPROFESSIONAL place I have ever had the misfortune of dealing with.I recently signed up for a 3 month course in beauty skills.Over the phone when everything was explained to me by Venita who is the owner, she told me that I do not need to bring anything in except writing material. After a few days, when some other people came in (who were doing a different course) and brought in their own paper towels,I was then asked by Venita where my paper towels were. I told her that she did not tell me to bring anything other than writing material to which she rep**** that she DID tell me to bring my own paper towels, which was a complete lie. Also, initially when I came in she tried to convince me to change my course, which I initially agreed to at first because the pricing which she gave me (R2500+R2500+R1200) was only a difference of R200 compared to the course which I was originally supposed to do.The very next day, she gave me a higher price and then told me that I must go according to the prices on the website, which would now actually mean that I must pay R5000+R5000+R5000.How does that work? You quote a person one price and then the following day you tell them to refer to your website.I felt that she was incredibly devious and was trying to manipulate me into spending more money than I was initially going to spend.Thereafter I changed my course back to the original one. The owner is incredibly shifty, flighty and has absolutely no sense of direction. The first 2 days of doing the course were okay because the lady teaching me knew exactly what she was doing and maintained absolute professionalism at all times. But once she had to go off for medical reasons, everything went downhill from there. There were lots of times when I was left sitting with nothing to do and the owner had gone off and disappeared for hours on end, leaving me without any direction as to what I was supposed to be doing. The ladies who work there are by no means proper instructors or teachers in any way, shape or form and are mainly there to massage clients so they can get paid, so any time that she told them to teach me anything they didn't show any interest and seemed more like they just wanted to get the task over with. She also does not have a proper class/ teaching area so basically you and other people will all be crammed into one extremely small room where you are given lessons of some sort but in between there are also clients walking in for massages as well and it is sometimes awkward to walk past as the passage between rooms is extremely narrow making it difficult for two people to pass by each other. There was one time when a client came in and I went into a room in order for him to pass me, it so happened that he was coming into the same room where one of the workers was waiting to give him a massage. The worker starts screaming "SORRY!SORRY!SORRY!" at me not even giving me a chance to say I was just trying to allow him to pass me as the passage was too narrow for us to both walk at the same time. I found that to be extremely RUDE AND UNPROFESSIONAL. I also found the owner to be extremely inquisitive about my husband and my personal life, wanting to know where he works, what he does for a living, so much so that she had the AUDACITY to ask me what my husband's boss thought about him coming to pick me up and take me home during his working hours, this woman really has some NERVE!I could easily go on and on about her never ending LACK of PROFESSIONALISM and UNCOUTH.Also I was dismayed to hear that when she was teaching me how to perform a certain task and I did not get it right, she went to the other ladies who were also in training and made a comment about how they should have "seen" what I did and then when they asked her what I did, she "rolled" her eyes at them. Lastly, I was supposed to have finished the course on Thursday but she told me that I will have to come in on Monday in order to finish instead. Due to the fact that my husband was going to be out of Durban and I was not going to be able to come in on the Monday, I phoned to ask her if she can change it to Thursday, she said no and that I must leave it as Monday.I then called her back and told her to leave out whatever I still needed to do on the course, she said I must call her and let her know when I can go in and then go to her town branch, which is a run down dilapidated building that makes you feel totally unsafe.I was not happy with this as when I did go in to the town branch on the one occasion, I was given two students to train me, who didn't fully understand what they were doing themselves, while the so called trainer/teacher sat with her legs up on the chair, getting a massage.I then sent a message to the owner telling her that I will come in on Monday to her branch in Umhlanga as I was initially supposed to.I also sent her an email to let her know as well. She did not reply to either. The end result being I got there, she was not there, I tried calling her, she cut the first call while the phone was ringing, the second time I tried, it rang and went to voice-mail.It is now the afternoon, I have returned home and still not gotten a call/message/explanation.DO NOT WASTE YOUR TIME OR MONEY ON SMT COLLEGE.The owner is UNPROFESSIONAL, RUDE and if you ask me, only does what she is doing for the money. She has no interest in taking the time to teach people and has ABSOLUTELY NO PASSION for what she claims to be a "college."She has no business running any kind of "college " as she clearly has no sense of direction and does not know what she is doing. The one thing she is good at is telling you that the "money must be paid upfront ."So there goes R6000 FLUSHED DOWN THE TOILET.My advice to anyone would be to rather pay more money and get proper service delivery. This woman honestly behaved as though she was doing me some kind of favour and not like I PAID HER R6000 IN FULL FOR PROPER TUITION!!!SHE IS ABSOLUTELY PATHETIC!
