Disappointing Experience with Solar Traders Africa

I purchased a backup converter from Solar Africa in July 2023. Initially, it worked fine, but when load shedding occurred in November 2023, the inverter failed to work. After resetting the battery, it started working again.

However, in March 2025, when load shedding resumed, the inverter failed again. Despite my efforts to reset it, it refused to work or charge. I contacted Solar Africa, and they promised to send someone to check it out. Unfortunately, they failed to follow through on their promise.

When I pressed them for a resolution, they demanded a call-out fee, despite the fact that the product was still under warranty. I find this unacceptable, as it's not my fault that they sold me a faulty product.

To make matters worse, when I refused to pay the call-out fee, they suggested that I bring the inverter to them for repair. This is completely impractical and unrealistic, as I'm not an electrician and don't have the expertise or equipment to safely remove and transport the inverter.

I would advise against purchasing from Solar Africa if you value peace of mind. Their unprofessionalism, lack of accountability, and unreasonable expectations are disappointing, to say the least.
