Hi My name is Brendan Coetzer. I got injured in a rugby match Saturday 10 August 2024. Before going to St Georges hospital we phoned to find out would tests be done if we go there now, because we are from Bushmansriver (130km away from Port Elizabeth). They said we must come through and scans and xrays will be done and if a surgery is necessary we will stay over and operation will be arranged for. We arrived at around 18:20 and only had a checkup at around 20:00. The nurse that did the checkup said she spoke to the doctor even if I have a torn ligament the surgeon will only see me on Monday. We only saw the doctor at around 22:45 where he sent me for a xray and said that they do not do any scans over weekends and I would have to come in next week somewhere to see if I have a torn ligament in my knee. We left the hospital around 00:00 with nothing at all. 80% of the people that was there complained about the pour service on Saturday with some people even leaving the hospital. There was an old man that came in around 16:00 and was only told around 22:00 that his arm was broken on two places. They made no effort with making him comfortable and he was sitting in a wheelchair and sleeping. This was by far the worst service I received from a private hospital. This is the type of things you see in State hospitals.
Regards Brendan Coetzer
