Be careful of their false advertising. My husband was introduced to Swimmattix in The Powder Mill, Sunrise Circle, Pinelands at the beginning of 2024 by a friend. They advertised one free session of aqua aerobics and upon enrolment a free swimming cap. He went to the free session and felt this was the ideal exercise that he needed so he enrolled and paid the full fee but unfortunately after the next session he developed the most terrible back pain. We did write to Swimmattix advising what had happened and that he would come back once he was able. He never did go back as he felt that it was the exercises that had affected his back and was not willing to risk it again.
He was issued the free swimming cap but there was absolutely no way on earth that it would fit a grown man so the lady gave him a bigger one. Suddenly after he pulled out we received an account of R160 for the cap. I questioned this with them as they advertised a free cap so how could they charge us now. I was given an excuse that the free cap was made of silicone and the replacement was of some other material and he had to pay for it. At no stage during the switching of the caps did the woman mention anything about the difference in material and that he would have to pay for it. We refused out of principle to pay for this cap as the advert did NOT say “free child’s silicone cap”, it simply said free cap and one would expect to be given a cap that would fit. I even offered to drop of the cap if they wanted it back but they never responded to this.
A few emails went back and forward at the time but they would not listen to reason and I eventually resorted to ignoring them but unfortunately after 18 months they are still demanding payment, threatening to have us black listed. I have asked them to refrain from harassing us further, I have said out of principle I will not pay for something that is supposed to be free and if they want to black list me, please go ahead. I also advised that should I receive any further communication from them, they will be giving me permission to list them on Hello Peter and any other social media platforms that I see fit. Believe it or not they are still harassing me with demands.
So please be careful of these people with their false advertising and harassment.
