I had an absolutely unacceptable experience at Alpha Pharm Synergy Megapharm Pharmacy(Synergy Pharmacy). My fiancé and I visited to collect medication that was prescribed to her after a doctor’s appointment. The pharmacist asked us three separate times if we intended to pay cash or submit the cost to our medical aid, and each time we clearly stated that we would be paying cash. Despite this, after paying cash and leaving the pharmacy, I received an email from my medical aid indicating that a claim for the exact same medication had been submitted by the pharmacy. In other words, they attempted to charge us twice for the same medication. I contacted my medical aid, who confirmed the claim and advised me to return to the pharmacy to have it withdrawn. When we went back, the service we received was nothing short of appalling. I spoke with three different staff members, including pharmacists and pharmacist assistants, all of whom displayed dismissive and unprofessional attitudes. No one offered an apology or took accountability for the error. Instead, their demeanour made me feel as though I was the problem or, worse, as though I was trying to **** them, when, in reality, it was their actions that could easily be interpreted as *****ulent. This behaviour is deeply concerning. Many people do not scrutinize their medical aid statements and might not notice such double billing. Whether this was a result of negligence, incompetence, or something more deliberate, I cannot say. However, the complete lack of professionalism, accountability, and empathy during my interaction has solidified my decision to never return to this pharmacy. I have reported this matter to my medical aid and intend to escalate it to the relevant governing bodies to ensure that others are not subjected to the same experience. I strongly urge anyone using this pharmacy to double-check their medical aid statements and ensure they are not being overcharged. This experience has left me disgusted and outraged, and I cannot recommend this pharmacy to anyone.

I am not one to give a bad review on a business but unfortunately Saturdays experience is the cherry on top for me. I am a type 1 diabetic and don't stray far from pharmacies as insulin is very much a must in my day to day life Synergy pharmacy in tokai junction has been my go to place for the last 4-5 years.. I admit that i left my refill for my insulin last minute, although i can go into a very detailed reasoning for my absent mind it happens, and I realised the night before i had run out. Making sure my entire day was revolved around ensuring i was there to get my stuff. I have had two other issues with this pharmacy prior to this incident but their diabetic range is the biggest and closet to me that's why i choose to return. As i give my details and they find me on the system the pharmacist who I did not ask whose name was, was explaining the co-payment that the medical aid is now making us pay, either way co-payment or full cash i have to walk out of there with my meds.. here comes the problem! his system says two boxes and his assistant cant find it. Now mind you i can hear the entire conversation between him and the assistant. With the fuss of trying to figure out where the insulin he has the nerve to tell me "oh see the thing is that we sold two today so we are out".. firstly thats not how a point of sale works, besides for making sure the correct person is giving the correct type and amount of medication your computer is there to take it off the system so that your stock matches your inventory. At this point i am not yet that upset but what set me off was that the pharmacist took the opportunity to guilt trip me and asks me why i left it for the last minute. After telling him it happens and it slipped my mind he talks right over me to the point I do not even hear what he says and i shout over him that this isn't the time to guilt trip me but to give me my options. He carries on making me feel bad (like I dont already feel ****, i am having a panic attack im shaking, im trying not to cry cause your telling me you do not have my meds and all the other pharmacies are closed) I make him apologies which he very reluctantly does. i say can I get my script as I do have refilles i will drive all the way to MKEM pharmacy (im correcting my mistake and trying to figure out how to get my insulin) this man doesn't even acknowledge that as an option. Then he makes a stupid suggestion of taking my fast acting insulin as my night time one to get me through the night? is he a qualified pharmacist cause no thats not how a fast acting insulin works. i was so confused at the suggestion? why was me asking for my script that i PAID for not an option? while im arguing with this man the assistant magically pulled a box of pens out of god knows where, again proving he lied about having sold two? These are the people who we intrust our scripts with ( which i might add is my prior issues with this pharmacy as they have lost my script not once but twice and I had to run around asking my Dr for a new one. ) the guilt trip, the inventory being unorganised and the pharmacist just not giving a ****, no pride in their work. seriously unsettling as who knows what else or who else's medication they do not take seriously. Not all my experience with this pharmacy are bad, there is one pharmacist who i wished was there to assist me that day as he has been incredibly helpful when my stuff wasn't being accepted by the medical aid but he wasn't there that day. Guys please do better, although you're not a dr your line of work is very much close to one and you take an oath to ensure that you take care of people who are sick. I did not feel i was being helped but attacked to cover up the fact that you misplaced insulin.

I am very dissapointed. I called the dispensary around 3pm today and spoke to what I assumed was a pharmacist. I explained to her that I am interested in purchasing a walker for my mom and have checked with Bonitas, my moms med aid and they assured me that she has up to R7,000 for walking aids. I asked if the pharmacy could confirm this with the med aid and to make sure there is no extra levies required by the pharmacy. I was asked to give Cheryl all my mom details. When I got home after 5 pm I called again and spoke to a lady at the dispensary. Cheryl had left for the day. She said the only way for them to know if a co payment is required is to process the claim. Once again I told her that its difficult for my mom to move and I would have to uber her up. That's why I want to be sure I can claim the walker on the med aid before I bring my mom. We ubered to the pharmacy just after 6pm and was all excited looking at the walker. Only to have Aamien tell us we had to pay cash for the walker and later claim the money back ourselves from the med aid. I told him about the calls I made to the pharmacy during the day to make sure I don't bring my mom out unnecessary. He didn't even query with the staff to check who u spoke to and did not even check my moms medical aid details. He just kept saying I had to pay cash. My can't move easily and I had to borrow money at work to uber her to the pharmacy. I was given the impression that I could claim the walker on the med aid. But after getting my mom there I was just dismissed without even an apology for the misinformation I was given

I had a bit of a ear problem for weeks and most doctors were away during the festive season. I went to Mutakalo Pharmacy where a nurse Belinda examined me and did some phone calls and referred me to Synergy Pharmacy in Blue Route where I was attended to by Sr. JO. They both attended to me as if I was their very first patient. We need to compliment and regonise such women on excellent service.
