Stuart of Taylor Electrical promptly answered my call and booked an appointment for one of his staff members to attend on the 4th / 5th July 2018 to inspect my property in order to issue a compliance certificate, subject to any work that needed to be done. I received an invoice via email on Tuesday 10th July (stating the due date as 9th July) in the amount of R1,250 with the description "Complete compliance inspection and testing". Thinking this was standard practice, I promptly paid within the hour, expecting Taylor Electrical issue me with a quote to carry out any additional work to facilitate the issuing of the certificate. After not hearing from them, I contacted Stuart telephonically, who advised that he would be sending a quotation and would then attend to the work upon acceptance of the quote. After not hearing from him again, I sent an email on 24th July, to which Stuart replied the following day that he would send my SANS 10142 Report and Quotation the following morning. Needless to say, this was never sent. When I queried it, he said that it had been sent and would send it again. There was no correspondence to this effect ever sent, nor received which leaves a bitter taste in my mouth as I have, in effect, paid a fair price for a callout with no follow through. Upon querying this with various other electrical institutions and another electrician whom I successfully managed to obtain an electrical compliance certificate from, it seems questionable whether this electrical company's is operating within normal / acceptable parameters in issuing electrical compliancy certificates.
