Waist trainer - Poor quality

I bought a waist trainer and it was delivered on the 24 April 2023. Order no: #3081. I wore the product 4 days and realized that it has a defect as it started unraveling on the edge. I logged a query and sent a picture on the 29th April 2023 of the product defect on the Thabooty WhatsApp line and I was told that the query has been escalated to the relevant parties. Today 05 May 2023, I followed up as there was no feedback received. I was told about the return and exchange policies that I must just keep the product as there is nothing that can be done. The product cost was R999 plus shipment cost. Basically I am told that its my loss and I am must move on.

I am extremely unhappy with the quality of the product and the after service thereof. As a first time buyer, i will not be buying anything from them ever again and would not recommend them to anyone.

I am referencing the Consumer Protection Act which the store is failing to adhere to. "In terms of Section 56(2) of the CPA, a consumer may return goods to a supplier, without penalty to the consumer and at the supplier’s own risk and expense, if the goods fail to satisfy the requirements and standards contemplated in Section 55. Section 55 stipulates that goods have to be reasonably suitable for the purposes for which they are generally intended, of good quality, in good working order and free of any defects and should be useable and durable for a reasonable period of time (having regard to the use to which they would normally be put and to all the surrounding circumstances of their supply). Should a consumer receive any goods that fail to adhere to the requirements set out in Section 55, it can be returned to the supplier within six months after the delivery of the goods. The consumer may then request that the supplier either repair or replace the failed, unsafe or defective goods or refund to the consumer the full price paid for the goods".
