We boarded the Blue Train at PTA station 11.12 2023 to CT all good. Boarded the train again 14.12 from CT station to PTA station. During the return trip, 16.12.2023 the train halted near an open veld in Meyerton, NOT AT A STATION. Three taxis with trailers as well as police presence awaited our arrival. We were requested to disembark. (Two taxis loaded with passengers headed for PTA station, we opted for Gautrain station Sandton) Train not going any further............. As this trip is expensive and it was on our bucket list, we were traumatised. Pick up arrangements had to be rearranged. Overseas travellers were in a state of shock. Not much explanation was given. Have tried to contact Travel Agent (African Selection Travel) Magda Schreuder, but to no avail. Emailed Blue Train direct no response. We are both in our 70's and so looked forward to our holiday. Needless to say, we arrived home at 10pm at night! Wenzel and Elaine Haasbroek

Disappointing, no wow factor, no value for money (especially if you pay in Rands). The train was delayed by just over an hour leaving Pretoria. The chef, catering staff were fabulous, food was good, high tea was not high tea instead tea & cake. Our butler was not very visible. No entertainment on board except on the one night there was a Saxophonist, he was good and created a party vibe. The train manager did not look for excuses when we brought up certain issues to his attention instead, he listened and tried his best to please the passengers one example, the train ran out of Amarula and he promised to "make a plan" and he did, he arranged for it to be delivered to the train at the next station. The 3hr excursion to the Big hole in Kimberly was good. The train is advertised as "a moving five-star hotel-on-wheels" but it did not live up to this expectation. In my opinion they are struggling after COVID and thereafter being suspended due to derailment and a fire and might be cutting "corners".
