The location and venue is stunning. We booked for Sunday lunch with friends and were really disappointed. The initial service was very slow and eventually our starters arrived after an hour. The traditional Sunday lunch was “warm” and our expectation was a roast beef dinner. However the meat was more reminiscent of prosciutto parma ham. Not at all what we expected. Based on the service and meal we will not go again.

My wife and I were treated to the Classic High Tea at the CELLAR-HOHENORT HOTEL .... and what an incredible experience it turned out to be. As is well known, the CELLAR-HOHENORT is part of the Liz McGrath collection which also includes another Five Star hotel, the Marine in Herm**** (where we were privileged to spend our anniversary!). For the Classic High Tea, we chose to sit in the Conservatory, a lovely bright area that overlooks the Hotel's amazing garden. The tea itself consisted of a platter packed with savouries that have been appropriately described as "deliciously indulgent".... although "delightfully decadent" would be my description! In addition, we received a three tiered server loaded with mouth watering sweets .... too many to mention. During the entire morning, two ladies, Kulsum and Irene, literally danced to our attention. They couldn't do enough for us! Together with their superviser, Ncumisa, they really made us feel welcome and very special. Would we consider a return visit? .... You bet we would!

Occasionally I have the opportunity to enjoy the custom of a 5-star establishment. However, I was very pleasantly surprised by the way my friend and I were treated from the moment we entered the premises till the time we left. We had decided to end a very enjoyable day for drinks at The Cellars by having a couple of ****tails and something light to eat. The staff were delightful yet dignified in their conversation with us. We really felt as if we were the only customers that they were serving. Our appearance did not make them treat us any differently. Often my friend and I will encounter visible snootiness of staff when or if they detect that the bill may not be large and thus not worth their time. I would really like to commend Robyn, the evening duty manager. She was not only kind, professional but also humble - that is such a rare combination - so please take care of her ..... she is gold. Then lastly, my sinuses were giving me trouble during the evening which leaves one a bit disoriented and I thus forgot my cellphone when we left the hotel. I only realized that my phone was at the hotel when I was getting ready for bed. When I called the next morning, I was told that my phone was in the safe. I can add staff honesty to the list of accolades! My life was on my phone. So, thank you, thank you, thank you to the staff of The Cellars-Hohenort Hotel. Our experience was perfect in every way and it made us want to linger a bit longer. Your service will be remembered for a very long time.
