Confusing Quoting process, followed by failed workmanship, and finally lack of accountability, as well as a breach of the Warranty Daniel (the German Roofer) offered in writing My suggestion is to stay farm away from Daniel, The German Roofer. He made all the promises of best product and quality work, but his workmanship was ultimately very poor, and most of the problems we paid a lot of money for him to resolve remain unresolved and in some places worse than before. He lacks accountability, did not meet to discuss remedies on failed work, ignored phone calls, and eventually even though he suggested he would come back to assess, he finally walked away from his responsibilities, even though he offered a 2 yr warranty on his work and a 10 year warranty on the product he used. We have had to incur further costs to try remedy the failed work. Independent contractors have confirmed that his work was substandard and the product application was poor. ⚠ Public warning: Avoid The German Roofer. He under-delivered, and did not stand by his guarantees. What was promised as “German quality” turned out to be a costly and stressful mistake.”

I had serious leaking problem on my roof in Hout Bay. Daniel from German roofers repaired it so professionally. This entire winter the house was wet free...Will highly recommend them.

I own a unit in the Essen Building at 40 Woodlands Road. The German Roofer completed the roof before I purchased, but we’ve since discovered multiple defects due to poor workmanship. The body corporate now has to repair the roof at significant cost. Based on this experience, I cannot recommend The German Roofer.

I’m writing to warn others about my experience with The German Roofer - Daniel. He replaced the roof at 40 Woodlands, Woodstock, quoting almost three times higher than all other contractors, claiming his work and materials were of “the highest quality” with a 2-year workmanship and 10-year materials guarantee. From day one, the roof continued to leak. Despite repeated reports, Daniel misdiagnosed the issue, blaming plumbing instead of his own waterproofing. Independent specialists later confirmed that the leak originated from his work, not the pipes. I incurred unnecessary costs following his incorrect advice. Now, within the 2-year warranty period, the roof is again leaking badly. Daniel has refused to respond to calls or attend site, claiming the guarantee is void because another contractor inspected the damage — the same contractor I had to call only because Daniel stopped responding. Independent experts have since confirmed poor workmanship and failed materials: the bitumen torch-on and Roofcote aluminium coating have delaminated, causing water damage and rot in the wood below. They also discovered silicone used where bitumen should have been app****, proving the work was substandard from the start. This is not normal wear and tear — it’s failed workmanship sold at a premium price. Daniel’s refusal to honour his warranty or take responsibility is deeply unprofessional and unacceptable. ⚠ Public warning: Avoid The German Roofer. He overcharges, under-delivers, and does not stand by his guarantees. What was promised as “German quality” turned out to be a costly and stressful mistake.
