This review doesn't pertain to my stay at the unit, but rather the subpar service I've experienced. However, I must commend one staff member, Elle, who was exceptionally efficient and polite. Unfortunately, the rest of the team fell short. I've been trying to obtain a refund of R3900 for three weeks, but my efforts have been unsuccessful. Despite numerous attempts to contact them, they rarely answer the phone, and when they do, they promise action but deliver nothing. I'm urgently requesting that someone contacts me to resolve this matter and process my refund as soon as possible.

Please be aware of the property call The Regency Apartments in Menlyn in Pretoria, South Africa. These guys advertise that they had a special for R1050 for a 2 bedroom, I booked and ended up paying R1275 plus VAT, but when they failed to accommodate my arrival time request I asked to cancel. Immediately when I asked them to cancel they change their cancelation policy and even their advert on Booking.com. The Booking.com agent was also useless and couldn't help me, worse we had a language barrier because he had a strong Indian accent and here I was with my Zulu accent. They ended up taking the entire R1050 and returning R225.

Please be aware of the property call The Regency Apartments in Menlyn in Pretoria, South Africa. These guys advertise that they had a special for R1050 for a 2 bedroom, I booked and ended up paying R1275 plus VAT, but when they failed to accommodate my arrival time request I asked to cancel. Immediately when I asked them to cancel they change their cancelation policy and even their advert on Booking.com. They ended up taking the entire R1050 and returning R225.

I arrived at the regency menlyn at around 23:20 on the 14th October 2025 .the hotel clearly said check in was unto 12:00am mind you I was travelling from a different province to attend my graduation in Pretoria. Upon arriving I went to reception to collect my keys, that is when it all went downhill from there. The receptionist said I had to contact my host which I did and to my dismay the phone rang unanswered for the next 40 minutes or more I kept calling and calling and sending messages on WhatsApp. I asked the receptionist if he could help us in any way by checking us into an empty room as it was last easy past midnight and was tired from a long trip. All I wanted was to check in and sleep! I further asked the receptionist if he could provide me with a number for his manager or supervisor who could assist us further as he had said that there was absolutely nothing he could do to help him,at this point I was ready to pay for another room but was skeptical because what if I can’t access the room also. Needless to say I was stranded for more than an hour trying to look for nearby accommodation, until the Samaritan security whom I don’t remember his name, came in and assisted us by calling different staff members until one lady confirmed my room number. The disappointing part for me was that I couldn’t be assisted by the receptionist but rather by security?? Anyway thank you to that gentleman for his kindness and patience. I would not recommend this hotel apartments to anyone. The room was smelling very foul, and the bed had a sinking hole. This was in room 320 by the way.

I stayed at The Regency Apartment Hotel in Menlyn on the 09 August 2024. The air conditioner was not working and I had to call for a maintenance person to come and reset it. I do understand that maintenance issues do happen. I then had an issue with a TV and after calling the maintenance person again, I only learned that only the TV device is available but the rest had to be from my own account. I had to use my own personal account for DSTV and Netflix. After reluctantly login on to my account, the connectivity/Wifi was very weak and I could not watch TV anyway. I was very disappointed as I could not watch any of the programs for the night.

Worst place to stay in Pretoria! We are currently staying in rooms 508 & 509 (two bedroom apartments). Dirty, disgusting, utterly neglected. Don’t let the website photos of Bookings.com fool you! Host replying “thanks for bringing this to our attention. We sincerely apologize.” Something seriously must be wrong if you missed all of this!

We payed a lot of money to rest and have some comfort yet we hardly rested and had to cut our hotel stay short to just a night. At our section of rooms was noisy like a shebeen, we called security but still the noise commenced till we hours of the morning. Reception was no help at this point I just want my money back because I didn’t even rest at all for my meetings the following day. There were other things I was willing to look past but not this one.
