I communicated with the hotel in advance to let them know that due to unforeseen circumstances, I need to cancel my accommodation with this establishment, and requested a refund. I was told that there is unfortunately no refund and not given any further options by the manager. Upon remembering that when I booked there was flexibility with the hotel regarding changing dates, I then phoned in to enquire whether they can rather compensate me via credit to make use of the accommodation at a later date, only to be told that this would not be possible. And on the Booking.com app, my reservation was labeled as a "no-show", even though I clearly mentioned ahead of time that I would not be making use of the accommodation during the time it was booked as I was no longer travelling.
I am very disappointed that there was zero effort from this establishment in assisting me with a viable solution, in the event that a refund was not possible, secondly, the manager from the establishment did not make an effort to get ahold of me to ensure the query was resolved.
At this stage I am very upset and simply wish to get my money back.
