The Scam that is "timeshare" from The Vacation Group

Really disappointed with the structure of this timeshare experience, especially this year. Been with this group for about 10 years with "10 more years of holidays" and for the first time, in the year of a pandemic, I am asked to pay a "exchange fee". When I question this and mention that I've been booking holidays for 10 years without needing to pay this "exchange fee", the response I get is that agents had been tasked to get the fee from members and they haven't been doing it. For me a precedent has been set for 10 years and come pandemic year there is now all of a sudden "exchange fees". I have expressed my displeasure and nothing is being done. I would advise anyone that was thinking about joining this group to please stay away. I have personally invited about 3 friends who are part of this and am now regretting from this recent experience and treatment received.

Another thing I am realizing is that there is clearly no point in being a part of this type of timeshare because now for 2020-2021 my "annual levies" are R5400 (I can book myself and family a lekka holiday for that much) without needing someone to require this paid at a certain time in the year and over and above that pay a "exchange fee" . Really disappointed and hope someone reads this before tying themselves to a nightmare.
