As a very loyal and long standing customer at Throbbing Strawberry, i am completely shocked as to how I was treated by one of the employees - Riaan. on Friday 4th September, i was at the restaurant having lunch with a friend of mine and my daughter. none of their card machines were working, and as we had no cash on us, we were requested to go to the ATM to withdraw cash. all ATM's were down and we werent able to withdraw any cash, so we asked for an alternative way to pay so that we could settle the bill immediately. we were not given any other option, but to come back and pay at a later stage. the manager took a copy of my ID and cell number and I advised that i would try and come by over the weekend if i had time, but I would definitely be back to settle the bill. Firstly, not only was this extremely inconvenient for me as a customer, but i was hounded all weekend by calls. I went past on Monday 7th September to settle the bill, and the manager was EXTREMELY rude! i was told that i have been avoiding his calls, and that if i have a commitment that i need to honor it. after explaining that unfortunately, i tried to come past over the weekend, but as I have 2 babies at home, this was rather difficult. i also explained that i dont always have time to answer every call i receive, but when i did speak to him on Saturday, I advised that i will try my hardest to come by as soon as i can. not only am i insulted by his comments, its rather sad to see how loyal customers are treated, especially during such a difficult time, where we are still trying to support our local restaurants - yet get treated so poorly. ive loved Throbbing Strawberry but unfortunately, they have lost a very loyal customer because of thsi!
