Time to rant and rave! As everyone knows, we travel a lot. We have been using TIC Travel Insurance (through Santam) for all our travels for years. Not the FREE one, the PAID one. We tried once before to claim a suitcase that was broken, it did not work. While that was ongoing, we travelled to Zimbabwe - Lake Kariba - where our boat sank. We had the TIC for this trip as well.
I just got this message from them: Based on the review of your claim and information provided, we regret to advise that we are unable to consider as none of the aforementioned perils listed below applies in respect of your claim.
Our experience with them during this journey: On the day the boat sank, my parents in South Africa phoned the TIC emergency numbers - we were covered for emergencies as per our policy - the lady just said there is nothing they can do as they can not reach us on our international telephone numbers. My parents phoned from their own phones internationally and sorted parts of the rescue. On returning I started logging our claims - only for the flight changed and medical cost. Which we are also covered for according to your policy. I had to resend everything many times. And it took weeks! I even send them pictures and police reports. I am not sure what else they wanted!!!!!
WHO CAN I CONTACT TO TAKE THIS FURTHER? I had enough of them getting away with this. I will also post this everywhere else I can thing about.
