Despite my husband and I both independently using BRAKENFAL TRAILER HIRE for many years, our 2025 got off to a SHOCKING start.
1) The ladies at reception, could find no record of either of us on their system, and we had to re-register. Not expecting this, we did not have all the registration documents with us and I pulled out my laptop to retrieve the documents that they required. Unfortunately, at that moment my laptop ran flat and when i asked if I could charge it to retrieve the documents, I was told by the sales ladies, that I may not (despite a socket right next to my side of the sales counter). They said that their manager will CHARGE THEM if they allow clients to use electricity on site. I offered to pay R5 for the privilege, but they both went very silent, refusing a long-standing client, this very basic assistance. Consequently, it took almost an extra hour for us to organize municipal rates documents to be emailed and approved by, firstly their off-site manager and secondly then, the apparent owner of the company. We were very late and very inconvenienced.
2) Due to a mechanical breakdown, we returned the trailer at the end of the 3rd full day, four hours later than contracted. Despite letting them know of our situation, they still insisted to be paid another R300 IN CASH,
3) Its also very 'interesting' that this horrid company ONLY TAKE CASH PAYMENTS and I wonder what the South African Receiver of Revenue might think about that? It must be challenging in this day and age to operate a substantial cash only business and declaring all that cash to SARS. Its bizarre! Even the market traders at Milnerton Market have Swipe Machines. What's your excuse?.
