The security personnel in the Edgewood Campus (UKZN) some of them are very arrogant and rude, they act as if they are running their own businesses 😲 Their behavior needs to be fixed.

I AM BEYOND LIVID! I AM A B.ED GRADUATE AND RECENTLY APP**** FOR B.ED HONOURS IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY AT THEIR EDGEWOOD CAMPUS. THE COURSE WAS AVAILABLE ON THEIR WEBSITE AND ON THEIR APPLICATION FORMS! I SELECTED THIS COURSE (B.ED HONOURS IN EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY) AND SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED THE APPLICATION AND PAID THE APPLICATION FEE OF R210. HOWEVER WHEN THE TIME COMES TO WRITE THE ADMISSIONS TEST EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY IS NOWHERE ON THE LIST OF SPECIALISATIONS OFFERED FOR HONOURS. I CALL KAREN SOPHIE FROM THEIR HONOURS DEPARTMENT EXPLAINING I CANNOT SEE EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY ON THIS TIMED TEST AND SHE SAYS THEY AREN'T DOING EDUCATIONAL PSYCHOLOGY ANYMORE AS OF 2026 AND I SHOULD CHOOSE A DIFFERENT SPECIALISATION INSTEAD. I ASK HOW SHE CAN SAY THAT SO CASUALLY WHEN I HAVE BEEN MISLEAD SO INTENTIONALLY BY THE INSTITUTION THAT ALLOWED ME TO PAY FOR SOMETHING THEY KNOW THEY WONT BE TEACHING IN 2026. I ASK FOR MY APPLICATION FEE BACK AND I'M TOLD ITS NOT REFUNDABLE REGARDLESS OF WHETHER I'VE BEEN MISLEAD OR NOT IT'S NOT REFUNDABLE PERIOD! I AM BEYOND LIVID THAT SUCH A REPUTABLE INSTITUTION CAN KNOWINGLY **** PEOPLE OF THEIR HARD EARNED MONEY LIKE THIS! APPLICATIONS HAVE CLOSED EVERYWHERE AND I CANNOT APPLY ANYWHERE ELSE FOR 2026. THEY HAVE NOT ONLY ****** MY MONEY BUT THEY'VE ADDITIONALLY ****** VALUABLE TIME FROM ME THAT I COULD'VE PUT TOWARDS MY PROFESSIONAL DEVELOPMENT WITH ANOTHER INSTITUTION INSTEAD OF WASTING MY TIME AND MONEY ON THEM. THEY ARE ****MERS! SHAME ON THEM!

As a student at UKZN Pietermaritzburg Campus, I appreciate that Sibonikhaya Driving School provides an accessible option for learners who want to obtain their driver’s license while on campus. This convenience is valuable, and it shows the school’s intention to make driving lessons easier for students to access. That said, there are areas where I believe Sibonikhaya has great potential to improve and truly stand out as a professional, student-friendly driving school. With more focus on respectful communication, supportive teaching methods, and a consistent structure for lessons, students would feel more comfortable, confident, and motivated during their learning journey. It would also be encouraging to see a clearer reporting or feedback process available through the university, so that students’ concerns can be addressed quickly and constructively. This would not only protect the students but also give the driving school valuable insights to continue improving its service. By taking these steps, both Sibonikhaya and UKZN have the opportunity to set a strong example of professionalism and care for student well-being. I truly believe that with some adjustments, Sibonikhaya Driving School can become a trusted, respected, and empowering partner in helping students achieve the important milestone of earning their driver’s license.

Bad customer service received this morning from UKZN Westville Campus Security Personnel by the gate towards Westwood Mall. The Security lady does not know how to talk to public members. And another guy showed stinking attitude towards me as well, I’m not sure if it was because I am a lady or is that how they treat people. I felt disrespected and that attitude must be strongly addressed so that it does not happen in future.

I had made payment and requested for academic record in november 2024, my email was given the runaround to various individuals. To date, I am still awaiting my academic record. The service has degraded deplorably.

I feel compelled to share my negative experience with Sibonikhaya Driving School, which operates on the UKZN Pietermaritzburg Campus. As a student, I expected professional and respectful service, but unfortunately, that was not the case. Firstly, the behavior of the instructors is unacceptable. They were rude and disrespectful, creating an environment that was neither supportive nor conducive to learning. This toxic environment led to lessons being stopped abruptly, leaving the student frustrated and without recourse. The lack of clear procedures within the university for reporting such incidents is also concerning. Students have no formal way of addressing these issues, leaving them to suffer in silence. It’s also troubling that the university continues to allow this driving school to operate on its premises despite the many negative reviews and reports of abuse. By doing so, the university is inadvertently endorsing this behavior and sending a message that mistreatment is acceptable. This is a serious oversight, especially when the university is meant to prioritize student well-being and rights. In light of this, I strongly believe that the South African Human Rights Commission should investigate the situation. The university, as the host of this driving school, may be vicariously liable for the actions of its contractors. Students deserve to feel safe and respected, not taken advantage of by a business operating under the guise of professionalism. I hope this review serves as a wake-up call for both the university and the driving school. Changes must be made to ensure students are treated with dignity and given the support they need to succeed in their driving lessons.

I am beyond furious with the University of KwaZulu-Natal (UKZN) and its appalling lack of professionalism. I accepted the offer for the BCom General program on the very day the results came out, paid my acceptance fee, and submitted all required documents. Since then, I have not been contacted once. I sent 20 emails in a single week, explicitly stating that I had accepted my offer and paid the fee. The responses I received were few and mostly forwarded me to other staff members, who completely ignored me or failed to answer their phone lines. When I finally received a call, I was asked if I was aware of my acceptance to the BCom General program—as if I hadn't already paid and accepted the offer months ago! This level of disorganization and incompetence is beyond belief. It feels like I’ve been completely disregarded, and I’m appalled by how UKZN has handled what should be a straightforward process. The lack of communication and accountability is absolutely unacceptable, and I am left deeply frustrated and disillusioned.
