However, my concern is as follows:
I visited your practice with a chipped tooth that already had an existing filling.
The doctor did not perform a proper filling but rather app**** a temporary “patch.”
Despite this, my medical aid was charged the full amount of R860 for a complete filling procedure.
Within less than three weeks, the tooth broke again. I consulted another dentist, who was able to correctly repair the tooth with a proper filling—no root canal was needed.
Because your practice charged for a full filling, my medical aid has refused to cover the second dentist’s claim. I have sent multiple emails and even made phone calls to your office, during which I was assured that a refund would be processed. However, I later received an email stating that the procedure performed was a “temporary filling,” contradicting the original billing submitted to my medical aid.
I find this unacceptable and misleading. Charging the full rate for a temporary patch that was clearly not durable or appropriate treatment is *********. Please note that I will escalate this matter to the Health Professions Council of South Africa (HPCSA) and my medical aid’s ***** and ethics department
