VUM Insurance declined my claim for daily expenses, which is part of my cover on my taxi comprehensive policy.
My taxi is covered by VUM as my insurer and Standard Bank as the broker. On the 7th of October, my taxi was involved in an accident, and it took VUM more than 20 days to authorize a cash offer. When I submitted the second part of the claim, the daily expenses they refused to pay it, claiming that my monthly premiums were 3 days later.
For the 20 days that I lost income while I was waiting for VUM to authorize the repairs, they offered the cash offer without any transparency on how they arrived at the figure or if it was economical to repair the taxi or not. The assessor's report was kept secret until now.
I had so much faith in VUM, and I'm left disappointed.
