WCED does not take calls, does not respond to emails, won’t assist in placing my son at a high school. To date he does not have a high school placement for 2026! No one there is prepared to help. What will happen to him???

Hi, my complaint must please be referred to wced Metro East regional office in reference to a late admission application of my step son, for grade 4 in 2025. His sister was accepted and we were informed by the wced regional Metro East department that it will be a motivation for him to be accepted at Blackheath primary due to his sibling being there for 2025. We have received no feedback from the school or the wced. We need to plan around his uniform and stationary but we can't do that if we don't know where he will be attending school next year. The application was submitted to the school in November 2024 after the regional office assisted us with the late submission.

The one star is purely because there is no option for no stars.WCED staff(particularly the West Coast District)have decided to adopt a grandiose sense of self because they are not held accountable for their disrespect and disregard when staff are reported who abuse their “power” by resorting to threaten parents when the very staff that is supposed to set an example to learners and other teaching staff are just left to run rogue. It is no wonder that the state of education in this country is so decrepit when learners are the ones who more than often are better ambassadors than the very teachers that is supposed to set an example of respect and having the humility to admit any wrongdoing. There isn’t a word to describe WCED staff members adopting the “blue wall” in favour of giving themselves a tap on the back when they actually deserve a kick in the behind.

So i was offered a contract at one of the government schools in the western cape as one of their pupils were injured at the time, bare in mind that it was a very critical time as it was exam time and children needed marks fir their report cards so it was absolutely crucial that i make little to no mistake at all because it was my chance to prove myself as a worthy teacher. I was up late nights and early mornings marking and accessing points needless to say that it was stressful and my family suffered as i had to shift my focus. After my contact ended i hsd the secretary file my paper in order for me to get compensated for my services, i am still waiting every time I phone they tell me that i must fill in forms because i am not on the system, this keeps happening every time that the payment should be disbursed. I phone fill in new forms and it's a waiting game from scratch again. I'm at my wits end. If this is how WCED treats contact employees then i would not advise anyone to work for then, my school of employment was wesbank high in the Western Cape

I would not advise any parent to enroll there child at Swaanswyk High School (Southern suburbs). The teachers as well the principle have absolutely no communication s****s. They never get back to you with concerns regarding school work and due dates during lockdown until its too late and then refuse to give any extensions. When you complain to the principle, she rudely blows you off. I've also tried contacting the WCED but they give you the run around as well. The amount of school fees really is not worth all the trouble you have on an almost weekly basis. Do better
