I take note of the other, dismal ratings of Africa Sewing Machines on hellopeter. However, my personal experience with them has been the exact opposite. I recently purchased an industrial sewing machine from them and the upfront information and communication during the purchase- and delivery process was faultless. I dealt with Faraz directly and found him extremely helpful and responsive. Can't comment on after-sales service yet but will update rating if needed.

They charge R400 more than regular mechanics to fix sewing machines. Also, if you're not local you'll find the location (Marabastaad) surroundings unsafe, has limited parking and is unclean.

Exorbitantly High prices for setting timing on an overlocker I hardly used bought from them in late 2021. DON'T buy smitch it's not durable, and get a local guy to do timing for you, there's other options.

I visited Africa Sewing Machine to purchase a machine for a project that I needed to do and after informing the owner who is also the sales person what I need it to do he sold a machine which was supposed be the right one. After purchase I notice this machine is the wrong type. He sold me this machine because it was more expensive than the correct machine. I called him and he promised to get back to me with a solution which he failed to do, I called the next day and as soon as he heard my voice he started to use vulgar language saying he will not exchange the machine and I must pay for a new machine. Not a problem as I need the right machine so will purchase from another company but will never do business with them again. No Warranty, No Returns, No Customer Service! I ended up purchasing the right machine at MC Thomson with amazing customer service and half the price as those ripoffs.

This was the worst experience ever! I visited Africa Sewing Machines and I told the sales person/owner what I needed to manufacture on the day of sale and he sold the most expensive machine in the shop just to get a sale which is not the problem because I needed something of superior quality however I found out the machine was wrong for my use and is used for thick fabrics in upholstery industry so I called him and he said he will call me back but he did not. I then called him the next day and he started using vulgar languages saying that I asked for that machine and if I want another machine I must pay for it. I told him not to use obscene language and he said "do what you want". He insisted that I asked for that walking foot machine when he told me this machine is perfect for making the small fabric items that I explained to him. After insisting he said he is not sure who I am so how can you insist that I asked for that machine. He told me "you must have been drunk on the day you bought the machine because you checked the machine when you bought it" and I had to explain to him the machine was in a box that I assembled at home and the machine that he showed me was a demo in his shop he then got even more angry with the facts and proceeded with obscene language. I tried to explain that he should talk to customers with respect but he dropped the call. I don't mind purchasing another machine however admit to your mistakes and respect your customers.
