My friend and I just spent the most amazing 3 days at the African Hills Safari Lodge and Spa. From the reception, restaurant (the food was beautifully presented and delicious), rooms (spacious and clean, cleaned 2x per day), spa, game drives and elephant experience - everybody was friendly, professional, courteous and knowledgeable! For me the most special was the up close and personal interaction with the elephants. I thought I would give the elephants a kiss but instead I received a slobbery kiss from them! African Hills - THANK YOU, you will definitely see us again.

An utmost disappointment. For the restaurant and the quality of the food at least . If you want bad quality food at high prices , an unfriendly indifferent manager by the name of Bernard to throw at you ugly looks when you complain about the worm in your salad ( literally ) and an outdated buffet style lunch , then you should go to African Hills Safari Lodge . Horrible starters , dry meat , live worms in your child's salad , inedible sour and off deserts , rock hard meat ***** , an absolute insult to any definition of food , nevermind cuisine. The so called manager , Bernard gave me a killer look when I complained that there is a live moving worm in my son's salad. Never interacted with us once. Not before , not after the inccident . He is a boss . Maybe the real bosses of this pathetic business could come down to their senses and get rid of a useless member of their staff , eat from that kitchen and be present sometimes at Sunday lunch . Then maybe , things will get better. Our waitress , Patricia was magnificent though . And they have a drawing card : A pair of tamed elephants with which you can interact. That saved the day somehow and it was worth the effort of driving 90 minutes from Sandton for this disaster of a day , which was planned as a birthday celebration. They should be ashamed of themselves . A bunch of clowns playing hospitality would do better . Over R2500 thrown in the wind. I would have felt better and more satisfied giving this money away instead of fattening the pockets of some useless and unfriendly operator . An absolute disgrace . Been caught once , never again . And I will ensure that everyone I know ( and I know a lot of people) will be informed of this atrocious and ruined birthday experience.

After having a very nice safari experience with Gibson and being served in a well mannered way by William the restaurant manager just blew the bubble with his non welcome attitude. We know the amount of hours they work and that's why we try to be nice towards them but you need to treat your guests with respect as well
