On the day of my admission i was admitted in the DDU group, drugs and other substances etc. I tried to explain to the admission staff that ive never used or were taking any of these substances. Nobody listened. I had to fight to get into the correct group. All of the other areas were not bad. The doctors were phenomenal. The nursing staff were very very nice

I have been a patient at Akeso Crescent Clinic since the age of 15, and I am now 26. Throughout my time under your care, I was consistently assured by my doctors and the******s that the Akeso emergency line was available 24/7 in case of a psychiatric crisis. On the morning of 19 July, I experienced a psychiatric emergency around 3:00 AM. Between 03:36 and 04:08, I made nine attempts to contact the emergency line. Several calls failed to connect, while others placed me on hold for an extended period with no response. Eventually, I received a call back at 12:03 PM, several hours later, at a point when I was unable to speak. The representative scheduled a follow-up call with a counsellor for 3:00 PM that afternoon β but that call never happened. For an institution like Akeso, which promotes itself as a leader in mental healthcare and emphasizes reliability and patient wellbeing, this experience was deeply distressing and disheartening. Being in a state of crisis, reaching out for help, and being met with silence or delays is not only unacceptable β it is dangerous. Having entrusted Akeso with my psychiatric care for over a decade, this experience has significantly impacted my trust. Over the years, the service has begun to feel increasingly corporate and impersonal, a stark contrast to the supportive environment that initially brought me and my family to your care. I hope this complaint will be taken seriously, and that measures will be put in place to ensure that no other patient is left feeling abandoned in their most vulnerable moments.

My child has been under the care of one of the doctors here. I am under the care of a different doctor at the same clinic. If I were under his care this would have been a very different review. I spent 48hours requesting a prescription for a minorβs psychiatric medication who is already going through withdrawals. After going to the practice after numerous attempts to call and a number of emails - eventually with no reply, the doctorβs receptionist told us to wait in the waiting area on the other side of the clinic and she would mail us once the script is ready, that was at around 1pm itβs now almost 7pm and still no word from her. As far as she is concerned we are still in the waiting area. Disgraceful. On the part of the doctor and receptionist.

I do not recommend this clinic - My doctor de*****ed my medical aid - My doctor cold-turkey-ed me off high doses of psych meds, leading to a suicide attempt - Hospital manager shouted at me for asking for WiFi access for patients during COVID lockdown - Some OTs were rude and invalidating - Nurses deadnamed me - I was forced to share a ward with women. I am not a woman - Grounds are inaccessible for those with mobility disabilities - Food is disgusting. Whilst on a vegetarian diet, I ate beans three times a day - Air-conditioning does not work - The hospital does not adequately prepare for drug stock-outs - I was victimised and POPIA was breached because patients demanded to see my COVID (negative) test results and discuss them in a group - Hospital classes are held in a room that is only accessible by stairs, and therefore I could not attend classes at all, due to accessibility issues - My first psychiatrist threatened a non-verbal child patient with ECT if he 'did not start talking' - Nurses bul**** me for self-harming prior to admission to the point where I had a mental breakdown and panic attack

Crescent Clinic now belongs to the Medi Clinic group. 1. The mattresses have never been turned or replaces. I have never slept on such a terrible THING and paid R30k for my stay. And not to mention the stained and torn bedding. The pillow freaked. 1st night there i slept on the bedding and let my husband bring pillows and blankets from home. 2. ****roaches all over the hospital! The less said, the better. 3. The food is horrible: most meals consist of dry small chicken breasts in some sort of sauce. I was there for 10 nights and not once did they prepare fish. 3. The pool table is in such a bad state with no usefull cues. 4. Stained furniture and floors: no deep cleaning is taking place. 5. OT classes are too long, these people forget that most patients are in for depression and cannot concentrate for so long. I take my hat off to the staff. Most are awesome and dedicated. Here and there still that 1 or 2 who needs training. Especially the kitchen staff who work at night.
