⚠️ WARNING TO ALL VW OWNERS ⚠️ If you value honesty, transparency, and accountability think twice about using VW Wonderboom. We purchased a brand new VW, and by the first service, the passenger window switch was already faulty. This was reported, and we were told the issue was “fixed.” That was not true. Instead, the panel was opened and glued back together in a sloppy and unacceptable manner. Now at the second service, we raise the SAME issue again and suddenly the story changes: “It’s a factory fault” but now we must pay nearly R4,000 to repair it. Let’s be clear: ➡️ Fault reported early ✔️ ➡️ Misled that it was fixed ✔️ ➡️ No disclosure of factory defect ✔️ ➡️ Now expected to PAY for it ❌ Under the Consumer Protection Act (CPA), consumers are entitled to: ✔️ Goods that are of good quality, in good working order, and free of defects ✔️ Honest and transparent service ✔️ Repairs that are properly carried out — not temporary, substandard fixes A factory fault on a brand new vehicle is NOT the customer’s responsibility especially when it was reported within the service period and mishandled by the dealership. To make matters worse, the Service Manager (William) was arrogant, dismissive, and showed zero accountability. This kind of conduct is unacceptable and does not reflect the standards expected from the VW brand. @VolkswagenSA this matter now goes beyond poor service. It raises serious concerns around consumer rights, misrepresentation, and failure to properly remedy a reported defect. If this is not urgently resolved, I will have no hesitation in escalating this matter to the National Consumer Commission and pursuing further action under the CPA. The only positive experience was the consultant who assisted my wife professional, respectful, and helpful. Unfortunately, that’s where the positives end. Consumers deserve better. #VolkswagenSA #VW #ConsumerProtection #CPA #CustomerRights #SouthAfrica #ServiceFail

I took my Car yesterday for diagnostics. I believe they took my Car and did nothing though i made a booking. I was onlynadvised 16:52 PM when i went back to dealership that the Technician couldn't figure out the Problem i can bring the Car Some other day. This was so disappointing as i took time off from work and fruitless refueling cost

The worst and most unfriendly Service Manager I encountered. Was there to replace my battery under the extended maintenance plan which cost us allot to be told that because I have a winch on my bakkie that they are not going to claim under the plan. Bakkie was bought brand new in 2020, all the aftermarket extras were fitted by VW and the battery life is now 5 years which is in any case more that its lifespan to tell me the winch damaged the battery. When some apprentice member and not even qualified technician tested it and confirmed that he cannot find fault or that the winch is draining the battery but assumed because the winch is connected that it must be that. Took my car to VW Hatfield and what a total 360 turn in service delivery. Was greeted very friendly by all the staff. We explained the situation, booked in my car and 5 hours later phoned me to tell me my car is finished and ready. Tested it and the battery life has passed, and it is not the winch. I will never go back to Wonderboom branch and now only go to Hatfield, Kudos to Hatfield branch where I will be referring all my family and friends.

I hit a two pot holes and took my car in to check if my suspension was okay, they said it's okay, after collecting my rims from repair shop, I went for alignment else where and they said my control arm bushes were worn out and my shock mounting was dead damaged right on the side I hit hard. To me they don't want to work, they don't care about our safety they don't even care about their products or how we care about our cars.

Very bad customer service. Unreliable and unfaithful, dropped my car for a very simple thing on Thursday at 7 in the morning, around 12 midday I received a call that my car was being attended to, no update whatsoever afterwards I had to call and find out about the progress at 4:15 and the guy told me the car was ready. To my surprise when I arrived the car was all of sudden not attended to because they had to confirm with me what needs to be fixed. I mean why couldn’t they call at least and had to wait until 17:00?? Worst of all these guys tries to take me for a ride with reasons that do not even make sense.

In 2019, I encountered a problem with my car, it was revving on its own, and the engine check light was on. I booked an inspection at VW Wonderboom and was informed that the throttle body needed to be replaced. Unfortunately, my extended warranty didn’t cover this, so I had to bear the costs. A new throttle body was installed, but the same issue persisted the next day. I returned the car and another new throttle body was put in, yet the problem continued. The car frequently went in and out of the workshop, sometimes staying overnight without them identifying the problem. They even stripped the wiring thinking it was the issue, but still, it wasn't fixed. One day, the car returned with a noise coming from the front, especially when the air conditioner was on. When I took it back, it was discovered that the aircon fan was broken, which they had damaged while repeatedly removing and reinstalling the throttle body. I reported the issue, but they didn’t take accountability. I then took the car to VW Hatfield, where they managed to fix it; the problem was with the intake valve, which was causing the check engine light to turn on. Fast forward to February 2024, I decided to take my car to VW Wonderboom (big mistake) for service since it was closer to me. They offered to do wheel alignment and balancing and I agreed. Normally, the car is ready by 1 PM, but that day it remained there the entire day. I called them around 4 PM because I needed the car for errands. I was told the car was not ready and when I arrived at 5 PM, it was still not ready. I waited another 30 minutes before I got my car back. After the service, the car started having tire pressure problems on the front wheels. I checked for tire leaks by pouring soap water on the tyres, but found none. The car would shake immensely when reaching a speed of 90kmph. I took my car to independent tyre specialists and it was confirmed that the two front mag rims were cracked and bent, and the tires were damaged. Upon inspection, they stated that the damage was caused by a machine from the last wheel balancing(which was at VW Wonderboom). I now have to spend a fortune to fix the mess that this VW made. The mag rims damage was not the only issue. A few weeks after the service, while driving, I received a temperature warning indicating that the car needed water refill which I had to do myself. This confirms that the water was not refilled during the service. The car does not have any indication of water leakage. I wonder what other problems I am yet to uncover.

I think the service centre is understaffed. I make arrangements when booking my car for service and then remind the staff in the morning. I politely request to receive my car at 15:00 to allow me to fetch kids at school. I have never received my car at the said time (the 5-6 times I took my car between 2022-24), it’s always 1-2 hours late. Does not even matter if my car is first in the line 😞. Of all the cars I have owned … ford, Opel, BMW. This was a fair request. For some reason, this is something VW cannot do. The strange thing is VW customer care call me everytime about my experience. I give my honest feedback and here we are 2 years later and nothing has changed. This dealer is close to home. My next service will be closer to work. I hope this experience is dealer specific, but I think it’s a VW problem. The staff always complain that the system is slow when they need to give me paperwork detailing work carried out. I am stuck with VW as I love my car. And it’s been very reliable limiting my interaction with VW 😌.
