Based on recent customer reviews, Boxer Superstores faces severe and systemic challenges across virtually every dimension of its customer experience. Staff rudeness and dismissiveness dominate feedback, with pricing discrepancies eroding trust. Refund and return processes are adversarial and drawn out, while digital platforms and loyalty programmes frustrate rather than reward. A small number of individual employees earn genuine praise, but they are exceptions within a deeply troubled service culture.

It is always unpleasant to do shopping at Boxer Senaoane, especially when it comes to cashiers, they don’t Greet customers, don’t ask if you have a Boxer Rewards card, to top it all, they’ll be having chit chats with the packers (personal chats) that are not even work related, the cashier doesn’t smile and all they know and to ask is “Plastic” you don’t even know what they mean by that “if you want a plastic bag or you have your own plastic bag”. And with today’s incident it’s always with Kwanele Nkabinde, she’s always having chats with packers, she didn’t greet, didn’t ask for a Boxer rewards card, then after paying she moves away from her till and speaks to colleagues, I had to ask her for my till slip, cause you can’t even leave the store without your till slip. I don’t know if the cashiers get trained on how to treat customers or do they even know what customer service means… and I have to say that this behaviour won’t stop cause Supervisors and Managers of the store allow it, there’s no disciplinary action that happens when we complain about such, forgetting that we spend our hard earned money in the store. Boxer you really need to invest on Mystery Shoppers that will get to see all the nonsense that happens in your stores… cashiers are the last face value of the business and it isn’t good for customers to leave the store with a bitter taste. The last time I complained a manager told me or asked me to say not to do online reviews on their store cause it puts the workers jobs at risk, yet they not doing anything about the behavior and their bad customer service in the store. There’s nothing difficult with greeting with a smile, asking for a Boxer’s rewards card and to ask if you want a plastic bag or not, then finally, thank you, enjoy your day. Such complaints wouldn’t even be here… And I also have to give Credit where it’s due, there’s a cashier polite and always greets with a smile and asks nicely the method of payment and says Thank you her name is “Londiwe” she gives good customer service. Thank you.

Please make sure that your store is always neat and clean especially the bread cutting department at your Boksburg branch please and your bakery department staff must prioritize hygiene.

Good day I went to buy groceries at a different retailer at the Dobsonville Mall and then I couldn't find everything I wanted at that shop and I went to Boxer still at the Dobsonville Mall and left all my groceries at the parcel cubicle of Boxer just outside the store. Then I got number 51 tag for my parcels. So after I finished my shopping at Boxer Superstore and wanted my parcels at the parcel cubicle the lady that works there told me some young boys came with the same number tag 51 to release my parcels. And so I went into the store to report the matter and the guy who is a supervisor and a specialist of CCTV came eith me to the Surveillance room and we were able to see the little rascals who were sent to take my groceries(Which I believe someone did not do their job effectively and also a sort of syndicate musy be happening within the store). And so I would like to thank and recommend from the bottom of my heart the CCTV specialist and the whole team of management because they gave me back everything that I bought from a different store and never even complained about the prices which were a bit more at their However I would urge the management to increase the security visibility all around Boxer and the Dobsonville Mall at large.Thank you Boxer Dobsonville Mall a million times.Father God Bless you daily.

I am extremely disappointed with the experience I had at the Boxer store in Cnr Von Brandis and Jeppe Street, Johannesburg on 26 February 2026, and even more disappointed that despite my attempts to follow up, I have received no feedback from Boxer regarding my complaint. I am a regular customer at this branch and shop there at least every second day during the month, mainly purchasing bread and other household items. I have always received friendly service from the staff inside the store, which is why this incident and the lack of response has been so upsetting. On the day in question, between 5pm and 6pm, I completed my shopping and had a full trolley. I asked at the till whether I could take the trolley outside and was advised that there were people outside who assist customers. When I went outside, I approached a man in security regalia and asked for assistance. To my shock and disgust, he began making inappropriate ***ual remarks towards me, which made me extremely uncomfortable. I moved away and requested a Bolt instead. When my Bolt arrived and I attempted to take the trolley to the vehicle to load my groceries and return it, the same individual insisted he would only assist if I paid him R20. I told him I did not have money and that I would load my groceries myself. He then began harassing me and pulling the trolley away, demanding money. During this chaos and the way the trolley was being handled, several of my groceries were damaged. My milk spilt My maize meal bag tore My eggs were broken It was an absolute mess after spending a significant amount of money in the store. The situation escalated even further when this individual reported my Bolt driver to nearby taxi drivers, claiming he was not allowed there. The taxi drivers then surrounded and harassed the driver, demanding money and threatening to impound his vehicle. The driver, fearing for his safety, ended up paying R500 (with my assistance) just to leave safely. With the serious safety concerns around e-hailing services in South Africa, it is extremely troubling that such behaviour is being allowed to happen outside a Boxer store all over a demand for R20. What is even more concerning is that despite reporting this matter and attempting to follow up, Boxer has not provided any response or acknowledgement. Customers should feel safe and respected when shopping at your stores. No customer should be subjected to harassment, ************, ***ual remarks, or ******ion on your premises. I would like to know: What action Boxer will take regarding this incident How customer safety outside the store will be addressed How Boxer intends to resolve the damage to my groceries caused during this incident I hope this complaint finally receives the attention it deserves.

I was at Boxer Superstores on the 24th of March and I purchased goods that costed R670.23 and asked for R1000.00 cash back and whe I swiped my card 2 times it declined(card machine), I then there for used my other Debit card and my transaction was successful. When I got home to check on my banking App I saw that the two R1670.23 that declined were actually deducted from my Bank. Meaning a total amount of R3 340.46 was deducted from my bank. I have laid a complaint/claim with Boxer on the 25th February 2026 and till date they still have not refunded my money. They are tellin me that they are waiting for their head office and are still busy with investigations. What am I supposed to do in the meantime, this is a big inconvenience to me and the people that dependent on my stipend.
