My father passed away on 13 September 2020. In October 2022, our family was contacted by ICTS tracing services, who informed us that my mother is the beneficiary of my father's pension fund. They requested that we submit certain documents, which we did, and ICTS submitted them to BIBC on our behalf on 1 November 2022. Since then, we have had no further communication from them. In July 2024, we contacted ICTS tracing services to follow up on the progress of the claim. They informed us that they had submitted the documents to BIBC a long time ago and that the pension fund should have been paid out by then. Thanks to the ICTS team, they contacted Tiffany from BIBC on our behalf to assist with the claim's status. This was the first time BIBC communicated with us and informed us that some documents had been missing since 2022 (although they never contacted us for 18 months, despite having all our contact details). BIBC advised us to gather the required documents, as board meetings are held quarterly, and we were asked to aim for submission by September 2024. We managed to collect and send all the documents by 19 August. From then, we repeatedly tried to confirm if everything was in order. BIBC kept saying they would check the documents and only responded on 2 September, stating they would let us know if the claim was approved. Since then, we have been trying to reach out, but they keep postponing the dates for informing us of the claim’s outcome. Recently, they told us that they are only now sending the documents to the board, even though we submitted them in late August. They now say they will contact us in early December or January 2025. Our concern is why they have continuously delayed responding to us since 2022.

I started the complaints process with the BIBC on 06 June 2022.We had a few meetings between the employer Riverside Turnkey Projects and myself and it was set for arbitration. This is where everything started going wrong! The representive Lizan Akkerman suddenly had her notes regarding the meetings stolen and she lodged the complaint completely wrong for arbitration. She was then instructed by the commissioner to adjust the claim to include all the outstanding money the employer owes me. I had no contact for more than a month from her . Everyone else kept assuring me that they are waiting for the commissioners award. I again and again explained everything to 3 different people from her boss, Johan Nester, to his boss Jeandre Steyn and she still ended up filing a claim for less than the original claim!!!! So now I am still out of pocket. I am getting less than I would have had she not adjusted the claim. These people are supposed to protect the employees that are being stolen from by the employers and they are not doing this at all. I am made to feel like I am the perpetrator in all of this because they drop my calls and try and avoid me. They keep brushing me off and telling I am making false allegations against Lizan since is doing what she is supposed to. All i want is what I am owed. Not even my last wages was awarded, only what the employer stated they paid me incorrectly, which was not even calculated correctly according to their spreadsheet! All the proof was there and they just didn't do their sdue diligence by getting this right. I am taking this to every higher power and newsagency I can. It Is not going to stop here.

I logde a death claim in 4 November the agent told me it would take about 10 weeks until it will payout .I followed up several times and in February the agent gave me a checklist of documentation need it took me a while to get all that was needed but I finally did now every time I follow up she request the same documents over and over and I resend on my last attempt to follow up she told she had an attitude telling me she will give me feedback ones she starts working on the claim. Which let me in shock 10 weeks has turned in to 6months .leaving me very disappointed in the service of the Building Industry Bargaining Council (BIBC) and this claim must also still go to Sanlam so how many months still ?

This is by far the worst organisation ever! My father passed on in 2007 and I received a call on the 05/11/2021 from Portia R who asked for a signed acknowledgement stating that I am indeed the deceased daughter as he did not list any beneficiaries and was not married. I sent the acknowledgement accompanied by my ID and my father's death certificate, she sent an email to Tiffany Erasmus who left the email there unattended until I decided to contact them again on the 7th of April, it was only then that she escalated the email to Thembakazi Nombewu who did not get back to me until I called again on the 21st on April where she told me she'd only contact me once she gets to my dad's name... She called me a few minutes later asking for my email and I told her that I was cc'd on the email sent by Tiffany then she said she'd email me a checklist, there's been nothing until now. I called again on the 26th at and todaywas told she's off sick and would be available today. I called again today at 09:38 and was told that she's on a call and she would get back to me, it's now 12:44 still nothing and their line is no longer going through. Your service is pathetic! 5 months waiting for a response about someone who passed on close to 15 years ago! Also Thembakazi has no telephone etiquette whatsoever, how do you say "sharp" to a client when you end a call? It's a lot really!

I sent my documents to BIBC via ICTS to claim my provident fund to Sanlam on the 2021/10/04 only to receive an email today 2021/11/10 notifying me that the documents were only sent today 2021/11/10. The communication and the service is poor. It’s not a review but a complain
