I had app**** for the deposit refund on the 4th of Jan and it was clearly stated that the refun will take 30 days. Now I’m busy calling them @Potch, no one seems to answer the call and only rep**** to my whatsapp text telling me the person responsible for refunds is on leave. But you are so quick to email us when we have outstanding balances but fail to keep the same energy!! It is really so annoying and frustrating!

I am Maria and i have stayed at Campuskey in Cape Town Observatory for two years. I checked out in November last year and was told to give my inspector my banking details when requesting for my deposit refund. Only to find that there was a link i was supposed to sent by Campuskey to fill in my details in order for me to get my deposit refund, which i was not even told about. I had to call them multiple times and email them twice and got no response. They said that the refund is supposed to take 21 working business days but it’s been a month now. My deposit has been due since last week Friday the 23rd of Jan according to what they calculated but it’s Monday, the 26th and i still haven’t received my deposit. No one is answering my calls and emails. This is so unprofessional and unacceptable. I want my refund.

If it there was a 0 stars option, I would absolutely use it! Don’t stay at CampusKey if you’re not ready to pay ridiculous prices and expect unnecessary charges on your statement. You will suffer when it comes to water, electricity and wifi!! Also the washing machines barely operate 😂only 2 or 3 machines are fully functional. Oh you will cry when it comes to service delivery! Rent goes up every year, service delivery decreases and everything stays the same or takes a turn for the worst. If someone were to ask me about my experience at CampusKey? I’d tell them it was one of the worst years of my life!! Don’t look at the building and be attracted by how beautiful it is, the grass isn’t greener on the inside🤣the grass is brown, dry and dying!! CampusKey do better!! Especially with the ridiculous prices you charge students!! Stop charging unnecessary amounts when students want to move out or change rooms, money doesn’t go on trees🙄 Do better and be better!!!!

Campuskey Gqeberha is one of the worst Campuskeys one can live in. Your prices hike every year but somehow their services also decrease which is unreasonable for the amount of money we pay. They do not care about the needs of the students all they want is their rent money. When you complain about something they take ages to fix it. If you care about your mental health don’t stay at campuskey. Campuskey do better!!!!!

I had problems with CampusKey Potchefstroom from the start. I had a check in date at the end of January 2025, drove all the way from Pretoria, only for them to tell me my room is not ready. I had to go all the way back and come back the week after. I was supposed to pay for wifi and parking once off, that is what I selected with the online system, when the year started, they changed it to monthly, adding another R800 per month. When I arrive the next week, the blinds were not yet installed, the floor was dirty, the "desk" that was provided was wobbly and immensely insufficient for a uni student, I had to buy my own desk and chair. The "bookcase" was a poor excuse of a shelf that you push into the wall underneath the TV with wood wedges, not even strong enough to hold 2 story books, let alone textbooks that weigh 3kg a piece. I was given a "brand new" room, sounds fancy till you find that there were almost no cupboards, just racks. all my cupboard items were out in the open, the moment you make food with a little bit of oil, your whole kitchen is dirty, I had 1 drawer for silver wear. Not to mention the Wifi issues, you close your laptop once and then you need to type in the whole code again for the insufferable voucher. The wall outlets look fancy, but do not work, I had a total of 2 out of 5 outlets that actually worked. Furthermore, the monthly payments were a nightmare. You get an email sometimes a week beforehand and other times the day the payment needed to be made, then you make the payment, it takes 2 days to clear, then you are fined R500 because you were 2 days late with payment. This happened 4 times. No accommodation for bank clearing times at all, pathetic. Then on the social side of things, it is impossible to be a productive student at CampusKey Potchefstroom, constant noise and shouting and music day and night, blatant disregard for quiet times even worse in exam times in some cases. "Student living" without the student, the fact that nonresidence members can sign up for a "clubhouse" membership makes everything worse, more noise, more shouting more drunk arguments and unwanted visitors. Constant smell of **** everywhere, at some point I was questioning if I got high from secondary exposure, it's disgusting. My wardrobe broke like 3 times through the year, maintenance "Fixed" it the first time, broke again a day later, never bother to come fix it again after multiple requests. The washing and drying machines decide to work when they want, not working after payment. I probably lost more than R1500 on the machines not working, with no warning signs to discourage accidental payment. The induction stove I was provided was not even installed into the countertop, making it uneven to cook with because it stood on the power cord. I bought myself an electric frying pan so I could make food. the Microwave was indeed micro, the smallest possible you can buy. The fridge too, other people had a larger fridge. Now I still haven't received my deposit back, it has been 2 months since checkout, where they promise 21 days till refund. Still waiting, useless. furthermore the "cleaning fee" for when I move out is not included in my contract, so I can clean my room as much as I want, they still charge me? and damage I didn't even cause? Pathetic cash grabbing. I would STRONGLY DISCOURAGE ANYONE who would want to stay at CampusKey Potchefstroom. I wish I could give a 0-star rating.

How can they switch off lights at this time when students are writing exams??? My son has only had issues here, yet they charge exorbitant fees per month. Not sure if its like this only in Gqerbeqa?

I would not recommend CampusKey to anyone. The management performs “check-out inspections” that often result in unfair charges to tenants. For example, I was charged for a kettle that was apparently damaged by hard water something entirely beyond a tenant’s control and typically caused by mineral buildup (calcium and lime) in the area’s water supply. Additionally, they impose a R350 “cleaning fee” for non-rebookers which was never stipulated in the contract. When I attempted to raise these issues via email I received no response. Communication with management is poor and the staff can be quite unprofessional and dismissive. If you are expecting to get your full deposit back, DO NOT count on it they will almost certainly find unnecessary deductions. Overall, my experience with CampusKey has been disappointing and I would strongly advise future tenants or students to look elsewhere for accommodation in potchefstroom.
